Libra Moon

At night, I open the window
and ask the moon to come
and press its face against mine.
Breathe into me.
Close the language-door
and open the love-window.
The moon won't use the door,
only the window.

Celebrating Rebirth

We begin again.

Monday's Full Moon is the first of three spring lunar festivals in esoteric tradition that relate to the religious holy days of Passover, Easter and Wesak. Below the equator, it's autumn and the crisp air is filled with the celebration of the harvest.

A new astrological year began when the Sun entered Aries at the Equinox on March 20. This crossing is connected to the pagan celebration Ostara (Oestra), precursor of the modern Easter holiday. As the Sun opposes the Libra Moon on Monday night, we are made whole, resurrected into a new cycle. The Soul is released.

The bold, initiating energy of warrior Aries is tamed at this lunation by the harmonizing energy of the goddess Libra. It's time to take action, carefully and deliberately, to set new plans and projects in motion. As we celebrate rebirth and renewal, we're planting seeds now that will bear fruit later in the cycle.

The first three signs of the zodiac - Aries, Taurus and Gemini - culminate in the three lunar festivals when the Moon is in the opposing signs of Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius. These are ideal times for individual and group prayer, meditation and service on behalf of the collective so all may grow in consciousness as we make our way through this intensely transformational time on Earth.

The spring festivals are moments of soul illumination and initiation. You may gain greater clarity about your life purpose and next steps. You may uncover places deep within that need to be healed so you may move forward powerfully on your path. The cosmic energies fill us up. The masters light our way.

Libra Full Moon - March 29/30, 2010 (7:25 PM Pacific March 29; 10:25 PM Eastern March 29; 3:25 AM GMT March 30)

The Festival of Easter or Festival of the Christ (Libra/Aries) celebrates the advent of Christ Consciousness on Earth and relates to the resurrection and ascension of the soul.

Scorpio Full Moon - April 28, 2010

Wesak Festival or Festival of the Buddha (Scorpio/Taurus) celebrates the birth, death and enlightenment of the Buddha and serves as a focal point for the seeding of spiritual enlightenment on Earth.

Sagittarius Full Moon - May 27, 2010

During the Full Moon Festival of Humanity (Sagittarius/Gemini), the energies received through the previous two lunar gateways are disseminated into the Earth grid through the hearts of planetary servers.

These lunar gateways are potent times to hold the Earth and humanity in a space of unity, love and compassion, knowing that we stand at the threshold of a new world age of our own creation.

Spring Cleaning

With the change of seasons, it's time for a spring (or fall) cleaning on all levels - spiritual, mental, emotional and physical. Astrology reveals that 2010 is a year of breakthrough, and cosmic energies will assist with this process. It's time to release self-limiting thoughts, beliefs, patterns, behaviors, addictions. A full-on cleanse is in order.

There's a lot of initiating energy at this time, energy for change. If you've been dragging your feet, feeling unsure, unsteady or lacking focus or confidence, now would be a good time to transcend fear and get in the driver's seat of your life.

Lunar Wisdom

Why are owls considered to be old and wise? I think it's because they have ancient souls. Last night my neighbor pointed out an enormous great horned owl perched in a tree above my casita. Such a presence he was, weighty and masterful, seated high on a thick branch at dusk. He called out, again and again. He took notice as I circled him with my camera below.

Much later, in the wee hours of the morning, I woke up with the Moon hanging outside my window. Lying awake in the moonlight, I had a series of epiphanies, one after another. Several areas of my life that need my attention came into crystal clear focus. In my waking days, I hadn't been paying enough attention.

Owl medicine was working its magic. I lay for hours, bathed in waves of milky light, allowing the transformation of the coming Full Moon.

Full Moon

The Moon will be full at 10:25 PM Eastern on Monday, March 29, which is Tuesday morning for many of our readers. As she moves into position to oppose the Sun on Monday, she'll cross over a special point in deep space and join Saturn where he has been hanging out in the early degrees of Libra.

This supergalactic center point is an initiatory gateway highlighted in the astrology of 2010 and beyond. We discussed this at length in our special Equinox teleconference last weekend. If you missed it, you can order the audio recording here:

Astro New Year

A new astrological year began at the Equinox last Saturday, and we're in for the ride of our lives. In Libra, the Moon-Saturn conjunction calls for balance, adjustments, changes that need to be made physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, as we make our way through this tumultuous rebirthing on Earth.

Full Moons illuminate what's been held in the subconscious. The Moon has no light of her own. She reflects the light of the Sun, bringing our shadow selves into conscious awareness. I'm ever grateful for the growth that comes under La Luna's steady gaze.

The Sabian symbol for this Full Moon at 9 Libra is three "old masters" hanging on the wall of a special room in an art gallery. This image not only references the artistic sensibility of Libra, it speaks to the need to return to our Source during a confused search for new value in a chaotic society.

Jupiter's transit of Pisces and the Moon-Saturn conjunction in Libra combine with this Full Moon to connect us with the deeper mysteries, expanding our consciousness, the oneness underlying all of creation.

I've noticed lately that the only true solace for my soul is time in nature, and that my inclination each night before sleep and each morning upon waking is to connect deeply with Spirit through meditative, quiet, breathing. Stillness. This connection allows important messages to reach into my awareness during the 3 AM wakeup calls, especially under the waxing Moon.

2012 Connection

The winds of change are reshaping our world moment by moment as we make our way through the 2012 transition. The words of the Wise Ones, the ancient ancestors, have never held more meaning. Be still, and you will be guided, nurtured and supported on your journey.

Full Moons are culmination points. Something seeded at a prior New Moon is now coming into form. What's manifesting in your life? Where are changes needed? Are you living in balance?

During this Full Moon passage, pay attention to the voice of your soul.

Celebrating Cycles

Endings are beginnings. With the New Moon in Pisces on Monday, March 15, we complete a year-long cycle of spiritual evolution and deepen our connection with Divine Source.

The Moon and Sun meet in the late degrees of this most spiritual sign, with the planets Mercury and Uranus closely conjunct. Intuitive, watery Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac and represents spiritual mastery, union with the One Source of all creation. Jupiter, the guru and guide, is transiting the earlier degrees of Pisces. The dreamtime is potent with messages and insights, spiritual truth from the great beyond.

All New Moons are about endings, and beginnings. What's coming to completion in your life? How have you grown spiritually over the past year? What have you mastered? What's just beginning for you? Honor this passage with prayer and meditation. Celebrate your growth. Ritualize your intent.

At the Equinox on Saturday, March 20, the astrological new year begins as the Sun crosses into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. Spiritually and physically, we begin again. It's time for movement and action. Think "new." The Aries energy helps us set plans in motion, begin projects, get creative and play.

Signs of rebirth and renewal are all around. In the northern hemisphere, the days grow longer. Birds sing. Plants sprout. Flowers bloom. The Sun warms our skin. In the southern latitudes, the Sun's light recedes as winter approaches.

The Equinox marks the change of seasons. Ancient cultures observed these special alignments of Sun and Earth with festivals, ritual and prayer. In the north, we plan and plant our gardens. In the south, we celebrate the harvest and begin to prepare for winter.

Galactic Alignment

The astrology of 2010 shifts into high gear with the Equinox on March 20. Since the Solstice last December, transformation has been happening on deep inner levels. Now the external changes go quantum and build to a crescendo in the summer months.

The March Equinox is especially potent this year with Saturn transiting the first degree of Libra, a point in space that connects Earth with the cosmos through the supergalactic center. Just as the Earth revolves around our Sun, the Sun orbits a central point of the Milky Way Galaxy. And our galaxy is part of cluster of galaxies that orbit a supergalactic center billions of lightyears away in deep space.

This alignment on the Equinox creates a supercharged gateway opening us to the infinite possibilities of the quantum creational field. If you haven't watched "What the Bleep Do We Know" lately, now would be a good time to revisit the ideas presented in the film.

Breathe and Balance

Equinoxes are moments of balance in the solar year. Day and night are of equal length. The Full Moon on Monday, March 29, is another point of balance with the Moon in Libra opposing the Sun in Aries. The Full Moon is the culmination of a 28-day lunar cycle and harmonizes the opposing energies of the two signs. Libra, sign of the scales, is about balance, justice and beauty. Aries, the ram, initiates action, activates the inner warrior, ignites our passions.

This next month is an amazing time for transformation. Which areas of your life are due for an overhaul? Consider the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels. Stay balanced with conscious breathwork, yoga, t'ai chi or xi gong, meditation and time in nature. Journal. Create with intent. Optimize your physical body for the changing seasons with exercise, healthy nutrition and a full-body cleanse.

Astrology attunes us to the natural rhythms of creation. How will you focus the powerful energy of these cycles?
