Everything changes. All the time.

Stars die. Galaxies are born.

A human embryo gestates. The fetus becomes a baby, then a child. The child matures to adulthood, ripening with age.

New life emerges from the womb of winter. Caterpillars turn into butterflies.

Civilizations rise and fall. New species appear. Some vanish. Seasons turn.

Life is cyclical, an evolutionary unfolding. Life is consciousness. Consciousness is love.

As vast cycles of time come to an end through 2012 and beyond, love promises a new beginning.

My spirit has anticipated this moment for millennia. Has yours? My soul chose eons ago to be incarnated here, now. I wanted to experience the transition to the next world age - to see, to feel, to taste this awakening.

As we know all too well by now, this transition is not without pain. Transformation often means struggle. The creative force pulsing through the cosmos is necessarily destructive. The passing away of the old makes way for the new.

We humans tend to resist change, yet the persistent unfolding of life yields infinite gifts. Without tasting sorrow, would we recognize bliss?

Lunar festivals

Celestial and Earth energies are building again. More changes are on the way. Can you feel it?

This weekend's Full Moon initiates a wave of evolutionary potential that culminates in an explosive eclipse series in June and July. Now's the time to prepare on all levels.

In evolutionary terms, whatever has outlived its usefulness is on the way out. The process is physical, yes, and also mental, emotional and spiritual.

What's dying within you? How are your values and beliefs shifting? Is it time to release thoughts, conditioning, patterns or habits that no longer serve your evolution? Are you living your purpose?

All full moons illuminate what's been held in the subconscious. With the influence of Neptune and Chiron transiting Pisces, the next three lunations carry enormous potential for deep inner healing and expanded awareness.

Tonight's opposition of the Sun and Moon in Aries-Libra is the first of three spring lunar festivals in esoteric tradition. This one is the Festival of the Christ and coincides with Easter and Passover. The alignment is exact at 10:44 PM Eastern.

In May, we'll have the Festival of the Buddha, a holy day celebrated as Wesak in Buddhist tradition. The energies are building in a giant crescendo toward a total lunar eclipse in June, which is also the full moon Festival of Humanity.

There are two other eclipses coming up, too. Partial solar eclipses will happen on June 1 and July 1, with the Solstice in between.

Meanwhile, the Mayan Ninth Wave is pulsing in nine- and 18-day rhythms. The evolution of consciousness is accelerating toward a culmination in late October.

Our experiences on this journey will not be ordinary.

From economic reconfiguration to climate change, spiritual awakening to social revolution, the changes are coming faster and faster. How do we deal with all this?

Being the wave

Earlier this year, it felt like the evolutionary waves were forming off in the distance, flowing toward us. Waves of change seemed to be somehow separate from "us" as souls embodied on Earth. The goal was to ride the wave.

With each passing day, it's become clearer that the key to navigating the acceleration of change is to merge with the force of creation - to become the wave.

There's no real secret to merging with the cosmos. We're already embedded within it. This is not a "doing" so much as a remembering that we are one with the divine unfolding. There's infinite grace and power in this way of being.

While we can experience divine consciousness any moment of any day, the possibility is enhanced during times of significant planetary alignments. Celebration, ritual, prayer and creative intent will be amplified during these upcoming configurations:

May 1-5 is the cross-quarter gateway of Beltane in the northern hemisphere (Samhain south of the equator). This year, the Taurus New Moon falls within this gateway, on May 2/3, depending on your time zone.

The Full Moon in Scorpio-Taurus (Wesak) is May 17 at 7:09 AM Eastern. (The Full Moon rises on May 16 for most readers.)

On June 1, a new moon partial eclipse in Gemini is exact at 4:03 PM Eastern. The power-packed total lunar eclipse in Sagittarius-Gemini on June 15 is conjunct Galactic Center. The lunation is exact at 4:14 PM Eastern.

The Solstice on June 21 is the apex of the solar year in the northern hemisphere. South of the equator, it's winter and the shortest day of the year.

The grand finale of the eclipse series arrives July 1, when the Sun and Moon meet for a partial solar eclipse in Cancer, conjunct the great star Sirius. Our lives are likely to look vastly different by July than they do today.

What to expect

Throughout this period, we'll notice more acutely the interplay of darkness and light. The differences between seeming polarities (for example, night-day, masculine-feminine, wealth-poverty, love-hate) grow more striking before ultimately resolving into unity. The illusion of separation will grow more intense as the truth of oneness emerges.

On a large scale and personally, we'll see more chaos and destruction, endings and new beginnings.

Everyone will experience these shifts differently. As relationships or jobs dissolve, new opportunities arise. You or your loved ones might experience accidents, illness, fatigue, agitation or even the sudden awakening of spiritual gifts like clairvoyance, clairaudience or prophetic dreams. Emotions run high. Addictions try to get a footing. Miracles happen more often.

How do we navigate this next round of changes gracefully?

Every day, attune to the flow of creation.

In the northern hemisphere, it's spring and we're celebrating new life, the transcendence of the human spirit. The sun warms our skin in this season of rebirth and renewal. In the southern hemisphere, it's fall, a time to count our blessings and reap the harvest of the solar year.

The change of seasons is a perfect time to liquidate personal belongings, donating unused items to those in need. Spring and fall are also traditional times for a full-body cleanse.

Have you been tending to your body, mind and spirit? What helps you feel supported on all levels? Take a careful look at your habits, and your budget. Eliminate the frivolous. Get back to basics. Make caring for yourself and your loved ones a priority.

Grounding and centering are essential. Eat fresh, unprocessed foods, especially root vegetables and dark, leafy greens. Mother Earth provides the sustenance we need in these times, especially fruits, vegetables and grains. Medicinal herbs, healing teas, essential oils, flower and gem essences also support us on the journey.

During times of potent planetary alignment, the effects of our thoughts, intent and action go quantum. Meditate and give thanks. Offer a simple prayer for your loved ones, all beings and the Earth. Offer your hands, your heart and your mind in service.

What If?

As chaotic events in Japan, the Middle East and elsewhere ripple around the world, it's easy to get caught up in panic and fear. While the Internet is a brilliant medium for conveying information, there's a very real danger of data overload leading to anxiety and exhaustion.

Right now there seems to be some apprehension about the planetary alignments coming up this weekend. Articles and video clips are circulating about the so-called "supermoon" on Saturday causing earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and extreme weather. Others say Japan's 8.9-magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami on March 11 were linked to the supermoon. The facts suggest otherwise.

It's true that the Moon's perigree (closest point) with the Earth coincides with the Full Moon on Saturday, March 19. The (unproven) theory is that the gravitational pull of the Moon at lunar perigree will cause extreme weather and seismic activity on Earth. Although some of the predictions I've seen are compelling, scientists say no, that's not true (see links below).

March 18-20 Power Portal

Astrologically, this weekend's Full Moon occurs in the signs of Virgo and Pisces. The Moon in Virgo represents service to the collective. The Sun in Pisces hints of the possibility of spiritual mastery. Virgo also has to do with discernment. And Pisces is associated with the waters of the Earth.

For many, the Full Moon will rise on Friday night, March 18. The alignment will be exact at 2:10 PM Eastern on Saturday, March 19.

The Equinox - the time of year when day and night are of equal length - helps us find balance. This lasts about three days, March 19-21. In the northern hemisphere, we pause to celebrate new beginnings in springtime. South of the equator, we gather the bounty of the harvest and begin to prepare for winter.

This year, the planetary configurations surrounding the Equinox are elegant in their design with the largest Full Moon of the year coinciding with the equinoctal turning of the seasons.

A rare alignment of the Sun with the planet Uranus at the Equinox point (0 Aries) adds the element of surprise to the Full Moon-Equinox party. The alignment is exact at 7:21 PM Eastern on Sunday, March 20. An influx of insight, ingenuity and inspiration flows through this portal. This bubbly, playful configuration is brimming with potential and creativity. It's a time to download solutions.

The Full Moon is a point of balance created by the opposition of the Sun and Moon with Earth in the middle. When it reaches full this weekend, the Moon will be closer to the Earth than at any other time since 1993, so it will appear larger on the horizon both rising and setting.

There's beauty and mystery in that, and an opportunity to radiate our hearts' intentions around the world and throughout time and space. The same with the Equinox. Both alignments have to do with balance, symmetry and natural rhythms.

As the lunar and solar cycles synchronize, the opportunity to bring love, peace and healing to the Earth and all beings is greatly magnified. The power of intent, both personally and collectively, goes quantum through this portal.

Ninth Wave Update

According to Mayan calendar scholar Carl Johan Calleman, the ninth and final underworld of the sacred calendar was initiated March 9. I've been waiting eons for this moment, so I packed a lunch and spent the day in prayer and celebration at Kasha-Katuwe (Tent Rocks), a sacred site on public lands near the Cochiti Pueblo in northern New Mexico.

The warm mid-day Sun glistened on sandstone spires above as I passed through chilly slot canyons then hiked up the mesa. With each step I took toward the sky, I felt the enormity of our individual and collective ascension through the 2012 portal and beyond.

Traversing the rocky desert path required preparation, groundedness, peseverence and a bit of courage. The gifts awaiting were well worth the effort.

Bliss flowed through my veins as I ascended the mesa. Each time I reached a plateau on the trail, I stopped to center and take in the landscape that enveloped and nourished my soul.

As I walked, I prayed that the coming changes will be mitigated, that we will embrace our divinity as the great cycle shift unfolds on Earth. On top of the mesa, I made an offering of blue corn with my prayers, sat for a bit, then retraced my steps, downward this time.

I'll never forget the immeasurable bliss of March 9 and the day that followed. On Friday, March 11, cold reality set in. The raw emotion of Japan's crisis is now emblazoned in our consciousness. It is the contrast in these two experiences that, for me, dramatizes the Ninth Wave and galvanizes my lifelong determination to contribute to the evolution of consciousness on Earth.

Are the Ninth Wave initiation on March 9 and the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami in Japan related? Carl Calleman says yes. He has posted a fascinating and well documented article about this relationship on his website (link below). Carl says there is no historical evidence that the March 11 earthshift in Japan will set off a series of even more devastating events. Amid the chaos, there's some comfort in that.

Stepping up

Power and discernment go hand in hand as we successfully navigate the increasing intensity of this next level of consciousness evolution on Earth.

The dramatic events of recent days still the soul. In quiet reflection, truth is inescapable. At this critical juncture in Earth's history, we must be aware and choose responsibly. Each thought, each action, becomes momentous.

As we find ways to manage ourselves in these times, we need a strong connection with both the spiritual and physical realms in order to maintain balance. Above all, we need each other.

As I tune in with the energies and hear from people around the world, I keep coming back to the same core message: We never encounter a greater challenge than we can handle. Beyond the death and destruction, the pain and the suffering, lies opportunity. And great hope. Miracles stand side by side with tragedy.

Back in December, I wrote in my 2011 Astro Forecast: "Structures, forms and institutions are breaking down. In 2011, we’re reorganizing at a higher level or changing the patterns altogether and building something new. During the reconfiguration, we become aware of the infinite possibilities of the quantum field. We’re creating a new paradigm, and we have the insight, tools and technology to do it."

The December-January eclipse series that initiated the new year was a beginning. March 9 was a beginning. The Equinox is a beginning. The next three Full Moons are lunar festivals observed in esoteric and religious traditions and carry enormous potential for healing and progressive change.

Possibilities

Let's play what if.

What if last week's disastrous Japan earthquake, resulting tsunamis and now potential nuclear meltdown are a cosmic wake-up call to alert us to imbalances that must be addressed if we are to evolve as a species on planet Earth?

What if quantum physics is true, and how we respond as a people will affect the outcome of such a perilous situation?

What if the Full Moon alignment followed by the Equinox this weekend supercharges our prayers and intention, and allows the healing frequencies of divine love to transform the hearts and minds of all beings, and Mother Earth herself?

What if we, the Earth, the Moon, other nearby planets and their moons, the countless stars and planets in the heavens are all part of a divine dance orchestrated in a purposeful way to facilitate a quantum evolution of consciousness?

What if we're infinitely more powerful than we believe ourselves to be, and this is the exact moment we're intended to awaken to our highest potential?

What if, in the midst of chaos, we all take a deep breath and tune in to the voice of wisdom within?

"What has been hidden is revealed."

Today the world is reeling in the wake of Friday's devastating 8.9-magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunamis in Japan. Bone-chilling images of destruction plaster the media and Internet. An earthquake-related explosion rocked a nearby nuclear power plant earlier today. A partial meltdown is now possible in at least one of Japan's five nuclear reactors.

Meanwhile, a wave of revolution continues to spread through the Middle East.

Enormous batches of birds and fish have been dying suddenly all over the world, including millions of poisoned sardines found dead in a marina in southern California last week.

Oil from last year's disastrous leak in the Gulf of Mexico was recently discovered choking life at the bottom of the ocean.

Extreme weather and climate change are far too obvious to ignore.

How can you not sensationalize these events? Explanations and interpretations tend toward religious fervor, political or new age fanaticism.

What's really going on?

An apocalypse?

I'd been inexplicably wracked with emotion from the moment I woke up at 5 a.m. Friday. When I finally turned on my laptop and saw the news, I understood why. I sobbed. The dreams I've had since childhood of devastating Earth changes were coming alive again. Tears washed away pain that was not mine.

I called my mother in Ohio. She had just heard from her brother, whose son - my cousin - is stationed at a U.S. Army base in Japan. He and his wife in Tokyo were okay. Untold others are not so fortunate.

Mom's words echoed what must be on the minds and in the hearts of anyone who's paying attention these days. "What is this, the Apocalypse?"

Actually, yes.

Although it has been taken to mean the end of the world through cataclysm, the word "apocalypse" is derived from Latin and Greek and means "what has been hidden is revealed" or "lifting of the veil."

Earth changes are a natural process of transformation that happens in cycles over vast periods of time. God isn't punishing anyone. Geologic, evolutionary forces are at work.

Massive changes occur over time, shaping the world the way we know it today. This is perfectly normal. Today, though, the human factor is the wild card. Never before have there been 7 billion people on the planet during such an intense round of changes.

Apocalyptic events tear holes in the fabric of our collective consciousness, allowing higher frequencies of spiritual energy to flood the Earth. In our current reality, waves of destruction, pain and suffering accompany the incoming frequencies.

If you're sensitive to energy fluctuations, you've probably been feeling tired or lethargic, restless, agitated, emotional or nervous. Maybe you've been experiencing unexplained aches and pains. Etherically, you're probably involved in the recent incidents in Japan and elsewhere around the world.

What next?

Beyond the tragedy and emotion, which are all very real, a message is trying to reach us through these events. We need to face facts and change our ways. Now.

As a species, we've taken an extreme gamble. Disaster by disaster, we're finding out just how high the stakes are.

For those interested in the astrology, it goes like this. The gas giant Uranus was hours away from entering Aries when the 8.9 earthquake struck Japan on Friday, triggering a deadly tsunami. Now chaotic Uranus is transiting the sign of the warrior and squaring Pluto, whose destructive energy transforms through annihilation.

In Capricorn, Pluto takes aim at so-called power structures like corporations, institutions and governments. As these planetary heavy hitters square off, the stage is set for sudden, violent transformation for years to come. The alignments won't even be exact until next year. An extended series of seven exact squares between Uranus and Pluto begins in 2012 and continues through 2015.

According to seismologists, even more Earth-shaking activity was happening in the 1960s than what we're experiencing today. Guess what was going on astrologically in the '60s? That was the last time Uranus and Pluto met up.

Because of the timing of their discovery, these outer planets are associated with uranium (Uranus) and plutonium (Pluto). Aries is fire. Capricorn is Earth. Add the acceleration of the Mayan Ninth Wave - which began two days before the cataclysm in Japan - and we've got rather a pressure cooker on our hands.

Given all that, a proliferation of nuclear reactors may not be the most evolved choice, especially when you put them in known seismic fault zones. Japan isn't alone in that practice. Did you know there are more than 190 nuclear facilities in North America? That includes a dozen in California, where a major earthquake is overdue. These are not just reactors. The count includes places where radioactive materials are processed and nuclear waste is stored.

Europe has 97 nuclear facilities in 17 countries, including 18 in the United Kingdom, 25 in France and 15 in Germany. In Asia, which encompasses much of the seismic Ring of Fire, there are 63 nuclear facilities. A breach at any of these could be devastating, to say the least. Earth in balance

In the prophecy of the Hopi Indians of North America, the term Koyaanisqatsi means "life out of balance." Thirty years ago, a film by that name became a cult classic. Its message rings true today, especially in the aftermath of recent catastrophic events. Other films in the "Quatsi Trilogy" include "Powaqqatsi" (life in transformation) and "Naqoyqatsi" (life as war).

These riveting tone poems, set to exceptional musical scores, pose a question we should all be asking ourselves: Are we ready to wake up, stop the insanity and work together to find solutions?

I've written this before, and I'll repeat it here. We've reached a tipping point. The future of Earth and humanity hangs in the balance. The way things go depends on us.

Relief efforts and prayer are natural, and necessary, responses in times like these. However, until we address the deeper issues underlying the serious challenges we face today, we'll continue to be at risk. It's time to lift the veil and really look at what's out of balance in our world, figure out why and how we're going to fix it.

March 18-20, 2011

The next big portal occurs with the Virgo-Pisces Full Moon on Friday night into Saturday, March 18/19, followed by the Equinox on March 20. On this day of equal parts darkness and light, we have a supreme opportunity to step into our power, align with a higher destiny and help shape the future for generations to come.

Individual prayer and meditation focusing on balance will be potent throughout this gateway. Joining with others for meditation and ritual will amplify the effects exponentially. Align with your soul, the Earth and the cosmos as you breathe, together, in silence.

Spiritually and scientifically, a quantum leap out of darkness is possible, but not guaranteed. It's time to step up and co-create the future of life on Earth.

How will you spend the end of time?

Silently, this week, a new wave of consciousness is forming. Off in the distance, the mother drum sounds, heartbeat of creation. In rhythmic overtones, she heralds a new beginning.

Beating......beating...... The drum builds to a crescendo through the Equinox in March, on though a volatile mid-year eclipse series and beyond, toward an infinite moment of divine splendor.

The end begins now.

A radical and profound interpretation of the sacred Mayan calendar pinpoints March 9 through October 28, 2011, as the ninth and final wave of consciousness expansion in the current evolutionary cycle that began 16.4 billion years ago.

The interpretation is offered by Mayan scholar Carl Johan Calleman, who's been tracking this ancient timekeeping system for several decades. His research diverges from the commonly held belief that the Mayan calendar ends in December 2012.

In Carl's view, a cosmic, evolutionary process is encoded in the Mayan system. Through a simultaneous series of nine underworlds, the drama of life unfolds, each phase building on the last and accelerating by a factor of 20 until we reach the highest plateau. Because of the acceleration encoded in the pyramid structure, the ninth underworld is the shortest, lasting only from March 9 through October 28.

This is a time of awakening and rapid evolution, the seeding of a new paradigm we're creating together with every breath.

A deeper, felt experience of time is emerging as we align with the rhythms of creation. Within this phase, our concept of linear time collapses and we become more aware of the cyclical nature of time.

On this wave, we have a new and rare opportunity to merge with the quantum field of infinite possibility, the realm of God(dess) and, ultimately, the conscious manifestation of reality. We begin to experience true time, the eternal now that encompasses past, present and future.

All that's needed to attain this next evolutionary level is the intent to ascend in consciousness.

Rhythms of creation

Throughout the ninth underworld, cosmic energies pulse in 18-day waves made up of nine ascending days of light and nine descending days of darkness. This 18-day rhythm builds throughout the cycle, culminating near the end of October, according to Carl's calculation. Waves of creation flow in increasing intensity as the evolution of consciousness accelerates. Structures, forms and beliefs collapse, and time seems to speed up. Individually and collectively, we'll experience an acceleration of the chaotic energies that have already become familiar in recent years. The revolutionary wave spreading through the Mideast will travel around the world.

I've been sitting with this concept since I learned about it in 2001, journeying with the rhythms Carl has discovered. It feels right and real to me, although I don't perceive that the truth of Carl's interpretation negates the truth of other day counts or interpretations, or other timekeeping systems. Carl doesn't have all the answers, but I do believe he's discovered something important that helps us make our way through a tumultuous transition.

Turning into one

In Carl's interpretation, the ninth and final phase that begins this week is called the Universal Underworld. We're completing the Galactic Underworld, which began in 1999. Think of the transformation you've experienced since then, and you'll get an idea of how much change will be packed into the next six months or so. Wow, right?

Through the galactic portal, we access the universal. "Universe" means, literally, "turned into one." And unity consciousness is what the Ninth Wave is about. This idea of "oneness" isn't just an awareness that we're all brothers and sisters and need to live in harmony with each other and the Earth. It's the attainment of divine consciousness. You might call it God consciousness or enlightenment, Christhood or Buddhahood, yoga or union with Source.

As I wrote in my book, Cosmic Time, the Mayan calendar tells of the possibility of a direct, personal experience of the divine, the awakening of humanity to its unlimited evolutionary potential.

We've been assimilating the galactic energies pulsing through the eighth wave, and this week we begin the climb toward our evolutionary destiny as divine souls embodied on Earth. This is a journey that lasts through late October, on through 2012 and beyond.

What to expect

Reality as we've known it is dissolving in this end of time.

In my 2011 Astro Forecast, published back in December, I wrote: "As we all know by now, the game has changed on Earth. Economies, governments, businesses, education, social systems, the arts, sciences, technology and medicine all look radically different than they did just a few years ago. Incoming cosmic frequencies are speeding up the changes. In 2011, ramped-up evolutionary forces shift into overdrive. The reconfiguration is just beginning."

We’ve reached a tipping point. By focusing on love and abundance and holding a higher vision for the future, we can seize the moment and become empowered co-creators manifesting a compelling destiny aligned with our true purpose.

If you're going the empowered route, don't trust anyone who tells you what's going to happen during this highly volatile, highly creative time. The whole point of the next evolutionary wave is for each of us to take responsibility for creating the future. We incarnated to grow through this experience. Why give your power away to channels and psychics who make predictions?

Attunement

You and I and everyone else have an opportunity to directly access - even merge with - the consciousness of all creation in this next level of evolutionary expansion.

There are many ways to attune to the natural rhythms pulsing through this wave. Among my favorites are silence, unplugging from technology, spending time in nature, drumming, chanting, sacred movement, gardening, aromatherapy and other integrative body-mind-spirit practices.

Pretend you know nothing. Be like a child, no conditioning, no expectations. Allow yourself to be surprised and delighted by the miracle that is life.

Stillness is a necessity. Periodically throughout the day, and in preparation for sleep, I like to center, close my eyes and breathe with the forces of creation.

In these moments, I'm brought back to a simple awareness, the remembrance of love. Love is the organizing principle of the universe. Through love we conceive. Through love we create. Love is all. And it's all, now, as we awaken beyond time.

Galactic Love

Emotions are running high as the Moon waxes to full in this season of love. Everyone seems to be bit more sensitive than usual. Jubilant, yet wary.

As we integrate each massive change in our lives and our world, we anticipate the next. The new changes are already building, gathering momentum.

It's only February, and it already seems certain that 2011 will live up to its potential as a pivotal year in human history.

The Full Moon in Leo/Aquarius rises Thursday night (February 17/18), illuminating the divinity of the human spirit and inviting us to discover our unique individuality within the context of the collective.

What a galactic awakening this is, a flowering of the heart.

What Is Love?

Every year when Valentine's rolls around, I notice how my perceptions of love have evolved. To me, love is all there is. Each being, each soul, every act and every thing is an expression of the one source of all creation, and that source is love.

Love is a walk in the forest or a stroll on the beach. It's a meal shared with friends, a celebration with family. Love is a tear shed by a father beholding his child. It's a handful of seeds planted in spring. Love is a conversation. It's a sacred promise, a commitment. Love is a blessing and a gift. Love is innocence. Love is the wind.

What does it mean, then, to be in love? I like to think of love as a way of life, of being in love with life, of living in harmony, the full integration of body, mind, spirit and soul, one with the earth and the cosmos.

To be in love is to love your self, to love each other and all of creation.

Sacred Relationship

When we live in a soul-centered, heart-centered way, relationships develop and unfold naturally. We’re all one, all sacred. From the stranger on the street to your newborn grandson, from the birds singing in the trees to the ocean waves dancing in velvet moonlight, life is an interwoven tapestry of relationships.

As we evolve, we begin to feel safe expressing and relating physically, emotionally and spiritually with others.

In these times of accelerating change, many relationships begin and end quickly, freeing us to spiral into ever higher expressions of human connection. Some relationships continue and deepen as we transform.

We learn through interaction with another. Each one is sacred other, a teacher, mirror and guide. Our children and parents, partners, friends, extended family, teachers, caregivers, colleagues, everyone who crosses our path touches us, enriching our life through the act of relating.

A Vision

In this transition to the next world age, conscious souls are finding each other, reconnecting. The flames of love are rekindled. One-on-one relationships form the basis of community.

Knowing that our children’s future depends on our actions today, we begin to build our communities, creating a foundation that ensures their birthrights of freedom, prosperity and fulfillment.

We search for common ground, a shared vision, and put down roots. We design a new culture, free from the past yet harvesting the wisdom of our rich and varied experiences. We create an economy. We learn the art of interdependence, respecting and honoring the individual, sacred other. Each one contributes, and receives, through this powerful, self-sustaining matrix.

In this Aquarian moment, we are one global community, an ever-expanding circle, linked in a common destiny – the survival and evolution of the Earth and humanity.

Our histories, our skin colors, our languages, religions and philosophies vary. One spirit unites us and draws us together, weaving a luminous fabric of unity in diversity.

It all begins with love.

This is amazing.

I just read the headline: The 18-Day Miracle: Egyptian People Power Ousts Hosni Mubarak. Chants of "Egypt is Free! Egypt is free!" ring in the streets, not only in Cairo but around the world.

In less than three weeks, the people of Egypt have overturned a 30-year dictatorship.

The path to Egypt's empowerment was paved last month when the people of Tunisia pushed dictator Zine El Abidine into exile after a month of deadly demonstrations in that country.

The people are speaking. Who's next?

In this year of quantum possibilities, what changes would you like to make in your life, in your community, in your world? Here's your chance. Dream big.

The planetary transits and alignments in 2011 are extremely potent, which means they hold amazing potential. Rather than resisting the energies of change, we can focus cosmic forces to transform our lives and our world.

2011 Forecast

This is just the beginning. The next wave of evolutionary intensity begins in early March when the Universal Underworld of the Mayan calendar begins and Uranus crosses into Aries, sign of the warrior. In the ninth and final underworld, the evolution of consciousness accelerates by a factor of 20, which means a change that used to take a year from 1999 to now will now happen in 20 days. (Given today's events, perhaps Carl Calleman was right when he first calculated the beginning of the ninth underworld to begin February 11, 2011. He has since revised that date to March 9. Read his comments below.)

As I wrote in December in my 2010 Astro Forecast: "Sweeping political and economic changes will continue to reshape our world in coming years. Within the 2012 transition, we’ve reached a tipping point. Mayan Calendar Ninth Wave

Dear Friends: As most of you have heard Hosni Mubarak has stepped down from power in Egypt on this day of 1 Imix (1 Alligator) in the traditional Mayan tzolkin count, which also happens to be the amazing palindrome date 1102-2011. As you know I do not believe this date to be the beginning of the high frequency ninth wave bringing in unity consciousness starting March 9, 2011. Yet, this is still the beginning of the tzolkin round that would lead to the top of the pyramid of consciousness October 28, 2011 and so 1 Imix is a significant seeding date for the processes that are now starting. The downfall of Mubarak is then as I believe the beginning of a process their dictatorial regimes and authoritarianism will, in a complex process with ups and downs, will start to crumble world wide and ultimately be replaced with a world of unity consciousness. Blessed Imbolc

Shh, listen. Can you hear it? A stirring deep within the Earth, hushed, nearly imperceptible.

From the belly of the Mother, new life pushes forth at the Imbolc cross-quarter gateway. In the depths of the Earth womb, beneath snow and ice, natural cycles of creation are silently at work. New life is gestating. Rebirth is at hand.

The ancient Sabbat of Imbolc marks the seasonal turning from winter toward spring in the northern hemisphere. The days grow noticeably longer, and signs of spring begin to emerge from the ground. The promise of rebirth and renewal is fulfilled. South of the equator, this is the Lammas cross-quarter, with the Sun's light beginning to recede as autumn approaches.

February 2 is the traditional date of Imbolc. The festival was Christianized as Candlemas, when the candles to be used in the Catholic Church in the coming year are blessed. In North America, February 2 is Groundhog Day. The groundhog tells us when spring will come, based on whether he sees his shadow.

Zodiacal Imbolc falls on February 3 as the Sun crosses 15 degrees Aquarius. This is the mid-point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Imbolc is one of the four “cross-quarters" traditionally celebrated as Sabbats in pagan traditions. Like the solstices and equinoxes, the effects of the cross-quarters are felt for three days, so the gateway is February 2-4.

“Imbolc” means “in the belly.” In Celtic tradition, this Sabbat is the festival of the Goddess Brighid, who relates to the Corn Maiden in Native American tradition. Both goddess archetypes symbolize the potential of new life within the Earth, within the human female form, and within the feminine aspect of all beings, male and female. Imbolc reminds us of our powers of creation.

The Sabbat

Traditionally we celebrate the Sabbats with ritual, consciously creating with intent as we move toward the birthing at the Spring Equinox on March 20. Progress may seem slow on the surface. Trust that new life is sprouting on inner levels, just as the tiny seeds of spring are beginning to germinate deep within the belly of Mother Earth.

The cosmos gives the green light for new projects, travel and adventure when the Sun enters active Aries at the Vernal Equinox on March 20. This year, Imbolc heralds the beginning of the ninth and final underworld of the Mayan calendar (March 9) and the advent of Uranus' re-entry into Aries (March 11) as he closes in on seven exact squares to powerhouse Pluto in 2012-2015.

Soon, hibernation will be over. The Sun warms our bodies and kisses the Earth. The sights and sounds and smells of a wondrous creation fill our senses. Spring is life on Earth. A new you blossoms, as a flower opening to the sky.

With this week's New Moon, the table is set for a feast of Aquarian love.

On Wednesday, the Sun, Moon, Mars, Chiron and Neptune all meet in the sign of the next astrological age.

With this celebratory lineup, Mars joins the Sun and Moon at 14 Aquarius. This cheery conjunction is symbolized by lovebirds sitting on a fence, singing happily. Saturn in Libra trines the Sun-Moon-Mars triple conjunction, urging us to wage peace and stand up for justice.

At the same time, Venus aligns with the Galactic Center in late Sagittarius and squares volatile Uranus. Expect the unexpected with this cosmic configuration.

This lunation is about personal love and spiritual agape, the birthing of a new galactic consciousness. It's also about upheaval and chaos. Though disruptive, there's enormous potential for healing and empowerment of the self, and the establishment of a new order rooted in love.

Here's a shining example of how these energies are playing out.

Chaos erupted last week in a historic display of solidarity in Egypt. Patterned after a similar revolution in Tunisia earlier this month, the turmoil escalated over the weekend with headlines screaming "Egyptians defy curfew as chaos rocks Cairo" and "Cairo airport a scene of chaos as foreigners flee."

Their spirits worn thin by generations of oppression, the people are stepping up, suddenly emboldened and assisted by lightning-fast communication via the Internet (a Uranian invention). Today's turnout of a quarter-million Egyptians in Cairo is described as "jubilant." And it's happening in the land of the Sphinx and great pyramids. Hmm.

If you think this is wild, just wait till March when the Mayan Universal Underworld begins and Uranus enters Aries, sign of the warrior. Talk about chaos. Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, is already playing with revolution as Pluto, the Transformer, persistently pushes for evolution. Now in Aries, Jupiter carries the flag for higher consciousness.

As we said at the beginning of the year in my Astro Forecast, life on Earth will be radically different in 2011. It already is.

Aquarian Rebirth

New moons are about new beginnings. This one coincides with the cross-quarter gateway of Imbolc (Lammas in the southern hemisphere), midpoint between the Solstice and Equinox. Meaning "in the belly," Imbolc marks the turning of the seasons as new life gestates deep within Earth's womb.

Themes are purification and renewal in preparation for rebirth in spring. Relationships are due for an overhaul, too...relationships with self, with the divine, with the Earth and her creatures, the cosmos and each other. This includes partners, family, friends, neighbors, villages and humanity as a whole.

Is it time for a relationship inventory? What's incubating inside you? The New Moon is exact at 9:31 PM Eastern on February 2. Imbolc is February 2-4.

Under this configuration it's time for radical love and forgiveness. Allow the innate power of love to transform and heal. Prepare for rebirth.

Welcome to the flow of evolution.

For those who read the first incarnation of my 2011 Astro Forecast document and/or listened to the audio recording of our 1/11 Astro Forecast Teleconference, I need to clarify something.

Carl Johan Calleman has updated his calculation for the beginning of the "ninth wave" of consciousness evolution encoded in the Mayan calendar. He originally published that the ninth and final wave, called the Universal Underworld, would begin February 11, 2011, a date included in his early books and the Powerpoint presentation referenced in my astro forecasts for this year.

He has revised his calculation, and the new date for the beginning of the ninth wave, or Universal Underworld, is March 9, 2011. The end date of this wave, and the completion of all underworlds, remains October 28, 2011.

When I wrote to Carl about the discrepancy in the dates, he explained: "In my book I wrote February 11, 2011, as a provisory date. I could not yet tell what was the actual beginning date and now I have come to lean over to the March 9, 2011, date. It was simply too difficult to see this clearly when I wrote it in 2001 or even earlier." Mayan Activation

I became acquainted with Carl's work in 2001 through Ian Lungold, whose presentation of the intricacies of Carl's interpretation was superb. Ian's website, http://www.MayanMajix.com, continues his legacy, and I've posted videos of his talks on my YouTube channel.

For those not familiar with Carl's work, he has devoted much of his scholarly life to interpreting the intent and meaning of the Mayan calendar. He's best known for calculating a different "end date" of the calendar (October 28, 2011 rather than the commonly held December 21, 2012), but more importantly, he sees the calendar less as a timekeeping system and more as an expression of unfolding consciousness, a process that's accelerating (and thus, related to time).

It's mindblowing stuff, and I highly recommend getting to know his work if you're at all interested in the deeper, esoteric meaning of what's happening on the Earth at this time. You might also be interested in joining up with others around the world who are creating ritual and intent in alignment with the beginning of the ninth wave of consciousness evolution on March 9.

I don't know who's right about the end date of the Mayan calendar, and my sense is that it doesn't matter. Over the years I've been exposed to many wisdomkeepers connected with the Mayan calendar and teachings, and I feel certain they're all making enormous contributions to the awakening of consciousness on our planet during this transition to the next world age. I will say that when I experienced Ian's presentation of Carl's information, every cell in my body lit up with recognition of cosmic truth. That didn't even happen when I was in the presence of Mayan daykeepers, so I know Carl's onto something.

What's Gonna Happen?

In our teleconference on January 11, a caller asked the obvious: What does all that mean? What will happen? I only half-jokingly responded that she might ask Mr. Calleman himself because I hadn't seen anything from him lately on the subject. He has since published an intriguing article on his website.

He writes: "March 9, 2011, is the dawn of the wave of unity." In a radio interview last fall, Carl explained how his understanding of unity consciousness is bigger than the oneness we feel with each other, the Earth and all of creation. Unity is union with our Divine Source, or what he terms "God." If that doesn't change the world, what will?

The most intriguing aspect of this ninth and final wave is that it's so fast. We have from March 9 through October 28 to step into our power, and our birthright, as divine co-creators embodied on Earth.

No wonder they call it a quickening.

The Ninth Wave

As the evolution of consciousness accelerates, each of us will very likely experience the shift differently, according to our perceptions, beliefs, conscious intent and subconscious conditioning.

One thing seems clear. Exactly what will happen is up to us.

So it's important to purify the mind, open our hearts, and align with the soul and higher truth, connect with others who are consciously making this journey in service to all beings and the Earth, and allow the guidance to flow about how to navigate these uncertain waters.

"There is no single right answer to how this transformation to unity consciousness is to be brought about everywhere," Carl writes. "These will be extraordinary times."

Ready or not, here comes the next big wave.

If you're feeling edgy, apprehensive, maybe a bit fearful and sometimes ecstatic, you're tuned in to the next phase in the quantum evolutionary journey that is 2011.

With six eclipses this year, four planets changing signs and volatile outer-planet configurations on the way, 2011 is bursting with potential and equally enormous challenges.

Notice the massive upheaval we've already seen in the first few weeks of the new year, including historic flooding in Australia, political revolution in Tunisia, and tragic loss in an attempted assassination in the United States. And then there's the mysterious "aflockalypse" afflicting land, sky and sea creatures around the world as the environment continues to deteriorate.

The challenges are great, but we're up to it. As the waves of change come faster and faster, this year offers a rare opportunity to revolutionize our reality, and it's going to require vigilant focus and great love to do it.

The next two months will give us an idea how all this volatility will play out.

The Line-Up

Today the gas giant Jupiter completed his journey in the spiritual depths of Pisces and entered the initiating fire of Aries. On March 11, Uranus, planet of chaos, will follow. Between now and then, Saturn turns retrograde in Libra, Chiron enters Pisces, and the final underworld of the Mayan calendar begins.

The period of February 2-4 is especially potent with the Aquarius New Moon aligning with the cross-quarter gateway of Imbolc (or Lammas if you're in the southern hemisphere) and leading into a potent Full Moon in Leo/Aquarius on February 17/18.

In March the energies ramp up when Uranus blazes into Aries, igniting the Leo Full Moon just before the March 20 Equinox. On April 4, transiting Neptune joins brother Chiron in Pisces, opening a multidimensional gateway of illumination that will be confusing as well as enlightening.

And that's just the next two months!

The Universal Underworld in Carl Johan Calleman's interpretation of the Mayan calendar is the single most intriguing element of the 2011 landscape. Beginning March 9, the rate of consciousness evolution speeds up by a factor of 20, so a shift in consciousness that took a whole year from 1999 until now (or 20 years prior to 1999) will take only 20 days. This phase, and all nine underworlds in Calleman's system, end on October 28 of this year.

If Calleman's right, and I believe he is, life on Earth will look radically different before the end of the year.

Time as we've known it is collapsing, and we'll notice the biggest shift yet beginning in March. So thoughts turn into reality faster, and we're flooded with possibilities each moment. This new way of being is chaotic, but also exhilarating once we get the hang of it.

The Big Picture

As I wrote in my 2011 Astro Forecast, 2011 is a tipping point, a huge new beginning for humanity and the Earth. If you wait around for 2012, you’ll miss it.

Are there areas of your life that are due for an overhaul? Now's the time. In 2011, you can ride the energy waves and make changes very quickly. On the flip side, if you don't participate in your evolutionary process, the energies will initiate the changes anyway, and it will be even less comfortable.

The Serpent Awakens

Shrouded in mystery, the serpent awakens. As humanity encounters the great healer Ophiuchus, we plunge once more into the depths of becoming. Rebirth awaits.

I am celebrating today the dawn of ancient light on Earth. Sort of.

Maybe you've already seen the headline. The Serpent Holder apparently had a press conference.

The mainstream mediasphere lit up this week with tales of a new zodiac. Yes, there is potentially a 13th sign of the zodiac known in ancient times, and it's re-emerging into the astrological lexicon today. Unfortunately, the news reports are hopelessly garbled, and the table that's circulating showing "new dates" of the astrological signs is flat-out wrong.

I'm hearing from people all over asking about this announcement and a so-called "new zodiac." This is a complex subject and one best approached with an open mind and open heart. It's not as simple as a new zodiac versus the old one. In fact, there are more than two, depending on how you look at it. The dates of the astrological signs, with Ophiuchus considered, do not shift the way the news reports show. Still, the mystery is intriguing.

For the record:

1. There is no "new zodiac." There's a sidereal zodiac and a tropical zodiac, both very old. There are other zodiacs, as well, in various traditions.

2. Yes, there is a constellation called Ophiuchus (or Serpentarius), and the Sun transits this region of the sky each December.

3. Ophiuchus may or may not be a sign of the zodiac, depending on your perspective. If he is considered a sign, he fits between Scorpio and Sagittarius.

The challenge in understanding all this lies in the difference between the sidereal and tropical zodiacs, which is an issue western astrologers may have to come to terms with sooner rather than later. The impending revolution of astrology is a topic for another day.

A shamanic journey begun a year ago will carry us through the holiday season this December and into the new year. Along the way, we fuse with the galaxy through a series of planetary alignments that awaken the soul to higher truth, deeper purpose, divinity.

Between now and January 4, we have the chance of a lifetime to choose a new destiny for ourselves and our world.

The Line-Up

Beginning today, the Sun transits the constellation of Ophiuchus, the Serpent Holder, and continues this journey through December 18.

Ophiuchus leads into the Solstice Sun's alignment with the Galactic Equator, an every-26,000-year phenomenon connected with 2012 and the Mayan calendar.

This year, the lunar and solar cycles dovetail in a rare and miraculous Total Lunar Eclipse on December 21 just hours before the Solstice alignment. Because the eclipse portal connects with the heart center of the Milky Way, the creative potential of this alignment is off the charts.

We are reborn January 4 with a Solar Eclipse on the Capricorn New Moon.

The Serpent Holder initiates this five-week sequence. As a year of chaos and questions comes to a close, we have another five weeks to clear emotional debris and create intent around how we'd like to shape our reality as we cross the 2012 threshold. This applies at a personal and planetary level.

Our inner journey during this time reflects the Sun's transit. The period will be intense, volatile and transformative. Expect disruption. Eclipses break up energy patterns, shaking the foundations of the established order. Think back to the raucous months of June, July and August of this year. We progress to the next level now, six months later.

Is It a Sign?

Ophiuchus is healer, bridger and wayshower, an interdimenionsal portal lying beyond Scorpio and Sagittarius. But is it really a sign of the zodiac? After all, signs and constellations aren't the same thing.

There's no widespread agreement among contemporary astrologers. Having 13 signs in the zodiac certainly upsets the cosmic order of a system where a 12-sign zodiac matches nicely with a 12-house horoscope.

Known to ancient astrologers and depicted in the Temple of Hathor at Dendera, Egypt, Ophiuchus is re-emerging as a transformational gateway in these transitional times. Those who opt to include this 13th sign call it Ophiuchus or Serpentarius.

Serpent Medicine

Back to the Serpent. In esoteric traditions, long before fear and religious fervor distorted ancient teachings, the Serpent represented the cosmic, creative force of the universe, Divine Source. It's awakening, uncoiling form is associated with rising life-force kundalini within us.

The Feathered Serpent of the Meso-Americans, named Quetzalcoatl, represents our enlightened state as God-realized beings embodied on Earth. The Fire Serpent with its coiled tail is a master symbol in the Eastern healing tradition of Reiki. The spiral-coil denotes the underworld in shamanic traditions.

In shedding its skin, the Serpent represents the potential of life beyond death, the shamanic promise of rebirth. Coiled, it is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.

Who, then, is Ophiuchus, the holder of the Serpent in the heavens? He is healer, shaman, magician, alchemist, sage and mystic. He represents the potential of humanity to attain enlightenment as we release fear, conditioning and the emotional scarring of countless liftimes.

What's next?

With all their galactic connections, the December 21-January 4 eclipses catalyzed a major consciousness upgrade at the beginning of the year.

Now here we are, facing reality. Today's world doesn't quite synch up with the potential we experienced through these portals...at least not yet.

The expansion at the turn of the year offered a taste of elation, and relief. Real change is supported in a new way in 2011. We can shift the trajectory of life on Earth to create a more sustainable, just and enlightened world.

We've reached the tipping point.

This is the year to begin creating a new paradigm even as the old is collapsing. There's a lot to do, very quickly, and each of us has a part. Incoming cosmic frequencies support our efforts.

The past dissolving, future not yet formed, all of creation rests in the dark emptiness, the shadow, between. This is the next eclipse, and it's coming right up.

For those of us in the Americas, the partial new moon solar eclipse will happen overnight Monday going into Tuesday morning. Across the Atlantic, the eclipse is Tuesday, January 4. A darkening of the Sun will be visible in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and much of Asia.

Solar eclipses are super-charged new moons. Whether seen or merely felt, this eclipsed meeting of the Sun and Moon signals not only the beginning of a new year but also an enormous energy shift into the next evolution on Earth.

If you're feeling excited, jittery, disoriented, lethargic, apprehensive, elated or any combination of the above, you're probably highly sensitive and already picking up on this potent planetary configuration.

Something big is indeed about to happen.

Eclipse details

Eclipses are special alignments of the Sun, Earth and Moon that happen twice a year, in pairs or triads. The electromagnetic energy shifts associated with eclipses affect the tides, weather and seismic activity on Earth. With an event of this magnitude, we can feel unsettled in our bodies at eclipse time.

Since ancient times, eclipses have been viewed as portents of change. This is because the shifting electromagnetics help break up energy patterns so something new can take shape.

Eclipse periods are also potent times for manifestation. The creative potential in the January 4 event requests our attention.

This week's eclipse is paired with the galactically charged Total Lunar Eclipse on the December 21 Solstice, and energy patterns have been shifting around intensely for the past two weeks. What's been held deeply in the subconscious has surfaced, provoking healing and integration. What it's about

In a solar eclipse, as darkness crosses the face of the Sun, we're transported into the quantum field of infinite possibility. The cosmos fuels our intent.

In this alignment, the Sun and Moon meet in mid-Capricorn. Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, and Mars, the Warrior, are also transiting Capricorn. The Sabian symbols for their positions speak volumes about the meaning and potential in this alignment.

14 Capricorn (Sun-Moon): An ancient bas-relief carved in granite remains a witness to a long-forgotten culture. An alternative description reads: A vast pile of Mayan ruins in tropical America discloses a perfectly preserved bas-relief carved in the granite.

And, as the Sun crosses 13 Capricorn on the way to meet the Moon, the symbol is: A fire worshipper meditates on the ultimate realities of existence.

5 Capricorn (Pluto): An American Indian encampment rests by the side of a canoe-filled stream and on shore the war dance commences.

21 Capricorn (Mars): Excitement fills the grandstands during the relay race as each runner springs to his place with eagerness.

Amid the ramped-up energies of the new year and the many challenges and changes we face in this dawn of the next world age, a message is embedded in the sacred remains of the Ancient Ones, a cellular activation, memory of home.

Jupiter and Uranus contribute galactic overtones as they align for an exact conjunction in late Pisces, square to the Galactic Core.

Communing with the Ancestors, the elements and spirit world, the Earth, Sun, Moon, the other planets, the stars and the Great Beyond fuels our manifestation process as divine co-creators embarking on the journey of a lifetime.

Expect miracles

The Year Ahead

Life as we knew it is over. For 2011, 2012 and beyond, the game has definitely changed on Earth.

Economies, governments, businesses, education, social systems, the arts, sciences, technology and medicine all look radically different than they did just a few years ago.

Incoming cosmic frequencies are speeding up the changes. This has been going on for awhile now. In 2011, ramped-up evolutionary forces shift into overdrive. The reconfiguration is just beginning.

This week the sun sets on a year we'll never forget, and everyone's wondering what lies ahead.

The ancient and prophetic Mayan calendar is ending. The new year begins with an eclipse series, and four outer planets change signs in 2011. The writing's on the wall. The year is all about change.

Not that recent years haven't rocked our reality. In 2011, the energies are more complex. As the evolution of consciousness accelerates on Earth, we're able to download and integrate increasingly complex cosmic programs that further speed up the process. More and more quickly, we're learning to adapt.

In 2011, we go to the next level of complexity. Planetary energies will be highly focused, yet diffuse. It's a year of doing, and being, as we remember our powers of manifestation and begin to shape the next world age.

Energetically, 2011 will feel much different from 2010. Partly this is due to cosmological phenomena predicted by Mayan, Aztec, Hindu, Egyptian and other ancient timekeeping systems. Partly it's because the large celestial bodies closest to us - the planets of our solar system - will rearrange in ways that facilitate the transmission of specific frequencies to Earth. Another reason 2011 will feel different is that we're getting better at dealing with constant change.

The context of this speeded-up evolutionary process is the great cycle shift known as the Turning of the Ages. This is a rare astrological, astronomical, cosmological, geophysical phenomenon encoded in the sacred calendars of many spiritual traditions on Earth.

Vast cosmic cycles are ending and new cycles beginning over a transition period that lasts decades, perhaps hundreds or even thousands of years. We live in the twilight moment between the old and the new.

As we dive into the celestial waters of 2011, it's important to remember that any single year is part of a continuum of time that is cyclic and ever-expanding in nature. There's no specific day, month or year when everything will change.

Evolutionary energies are reaching a crescendo as we make our way through 2011, 2012 and beyond. The year 2011 features a complex tapestry made up of multicolored strands of energies. Looking more closely, we notice how the various strands are woven together to create a captivating overall design. Here are some themes and highlights that will emerge from this magical terrain.

I. Cosmic Initiation

Another wave of awakening will sweep the planet as the celestial and Earth energies peak several times during 2011.

The new year begins with two important eclipses that connect us with the creative force of the cosmos via the heart center of the Milky Way.

On December 21, the Sun, Earth and Moon aligned in a total lunar eclipse just hours before the Solstice, opening our hearts and minds to higher truth. In a rare cosmic convergence, the historic lunar event happened during the special period when our Sun aligns each year with the heart of the Milky Way, a galactic alignment related to the Mayan calendar and 2012. To experience the play of shadow and light as the Moon, Earth and Sun danced with the Galactic Core was a moment of pure grace.

The dawn of 2011 continues with a Solar Eclipse on the Capricorn New Moon on January 4. As the new year and a new lunar cycle begin, Jupiter and Uranus will be exactly conjunct in late Pisces. Together they square the Galactic Center, creating another moment of divine initiation, an awakening for humanity and the Earth.

Later in January, Jupiter enters Aries, sign of the warrior. Uranus will follow in March. We witnessed the celestial combustion when these two powerhouse planets met in early Aries during the summer months of 2010 (winter in the southern hemisphere). When Jupiter, the Guru, and Uranus, the Awakener, again journey into the cosmic fire of Aries, sparks of insight, ingenuity and innovation will fly.

As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries is associated with rebirth and new beginnings. In early 2011 both Jupiter and Uranus will complete their zodiacal journey in Pisces and begin a new cycle in Aries. The first degree of the first sign is an ultra-sensitive point in astrology. While Jupiter will zoom through Aries and into Taurus in 2011, Uranus moves more slowly and will hang around the initiation point for most of the year. The unpredictable nature of Uranus promises to surprise us both personally and collectively.

In February, the Universal Underworld of the Mayan Calendar begins, blowing open the walls of human perception and freeing us to experience our cosmic nature as divine co-creators. This initiation lasts through October 28, 2011, and signals another quantum acceleration of consciousness evolution. (Based on the work of Mayan scholar Carl Johan Calleman. Through the portal of 2011, an infusion of spiritual light will flood our world. Enlightenment is available to all in this unprecedented moment in cosmic time. As the kundalini fire of the cosmic serpent re-awakens on Earth, we're invited to the dance of creation.

II. Earth in Balance

We'll need the mass doses of Uranian inspiration and ingenuity coming our way, because we've got some enormous challenges to deal with on our home planet. Uranus is the problem-solver in astrology, the renegade, the "think-different" planet.

The Earth herself will be in the spotlight again in 2011. Earth changes will continue, with peaks likely in March through August, and again in late November through the end of the year.

Perhaps the most stirring memory of 2010, for ages to come, will be the Gulf Oil disaster, which began as the Sun crossed into Taurus, and Uranus and Jupiter hovered in late Pisces. The most important planetary configuration of 2010, the Grand Cardinal Cross, formed in the heavens two months later as oil leaked uncontrollably from the sea floor. The cross has formed several times since, and will again in 2011.

Both Chiron and Neptune will enter the water sign Pisces in 2011, and attention will again be focused on the waters of the Earth. In June, Jupiter crosses into Taurus, the first Earth sign of the zodiac, further emphasizing the importance of healing and harmonizing with our life-giving mother.

Today the oil from the spill continues to devastate sensitive ecosystems in the gulf and surrounding areas. Clean-up has barely begun. Beyond the immediate problem of the spill itself lie the long-term environmental issues that came to light as a result of the incident. We need to pay attention to the messages of this disaster. The day-to-day choices we each make have an impact on our environment and the planet's natural resources.

In 2011, Neptune will journey into the watery realms of Pisces, and Jupiter will venture into Taurus, the sign most associated with our Earth mother. Pluto continues his 16-year transit of Capricorn, reminding us, among other things, that governments, corporations, education and other institutions must be more focused on the environment.

Words and awareness are not enough. Workable solutions and widespread, radical change are needed to address the environmental crisis now, before the unthinkable happens again.

III. Revolution

A compelling feature of the great cycle shift is the collection of energy around a central, quantum tipping point. This energy trough exists in the in-between period as one set of cosmic cycles ends and the next set begins. In the cusp or crease period between world ages, we can tap into the quantum field and make enormous changes very quickly. That time is now.

There have been other moments like this in human history, including the Industrial Revolution that mechanized our world and changed life as we knew it. That was back in 1755, which coincided with the beginning of the Planetary Underworld in Calleman's version of the Mayan calendar. The next cycle, called the Galactic Underworld, began in 1999 and ushered in the Information Age. Again, for many, life on Earth would never be the same.

In 2011, as we enter the Universal Underworld, the rate of change accelerates again, to a head-spinning once every 20 days. Changes that used to take a year during the Galactic Underworld (or 20 years during the Planetary Underworld) will take only 20 days. The new phase begins in February 2011.

Not only is the acceleration of consciousness on our side as we attempt to heal our world and change the course of history, planetary titans Uranus and Pluto will weigh in to support the revolution. Astrologically these are powerful, destructive and creative energies, and we'll need to be vigilant in focusing the waves of momentum unleashed through the ongoing square between these two planets.

Pluto in Capricorn facilitates the destruction of institutions, structures and systems, especially at a societal level, that no longer serve our rapid evolution as a species. Uranian energy strikes unexpectedly, like lightning, obliterating the old to make way for the new. Uranian energies also spark flashes of genius that can be focused toward innovative solutions.

We've experienced plenty of destructive energy in our world in recent centuries and decades. While the demolition of the old paradigm will continue in the new year, there's a shift into a more powerfully creative mode that will help us make changes and solve problems quickly, efficiently and proactively. The building of a new paradigm begins as the old falls away.

IV. Individuated Oneness

Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius, the sign of the next astrological age. While there's no single date when the 2,000-year Age of Aquarius begins, Uranus' entry into Aries is undoubtedly a significant moment in this transition.

With his layers of meaning, shrewd complexity and belligerent yet effective approach, this is a planet for our times. Uranus is the rebel with a cause. For each of us, cycles of Uranus represent our process of individuation as we seek our unique identity within a vast sea of consciousness. Collectively, Uranus guides our evolution toward a more humanitarian, egalitarian and enlightened society where the needs of the many outweigh the desires of a few.

A vast societal reorganization will be needed to fully realize human evolutionary potential, and Uranus is just the planet to help us make this transition.

On an individual level, the process requires that we each take responsibility for ourselves and commit to fulfilling our divine purpose at this crucial time in Earth's history.

Uranus and his sign, Aquarius, embody unity consciousness, the intrinsic oneness that underlies all of creation, as well as individuated soul expression. The Aquarian Age calls for teamwork, cooperation and collaboration that honors the unique talents and gifts of each individual.

Personal and group intentions will manifest powerfully under the planetary configurations of 2011, especially those that balance the needs of the individual with the good of the collective, and vice versa. Together, we can turn the tide and create a brighter future for all.

Spiritual GPS

The truth of our being is love. As we travel the spiral, each year our hearts open more fully to this vast creative force of the cosmos. We are empowered to fulfill our destiny as souls embodied on Earth.

We can tune in as often as needed to our internal guidance system, the infinite wisdom deep in our hearts. Throughout all the changes, the acceleration and the exhilaration, the peace, the knowing, is in the center.

Access this wisdom in deep communion with the heart center of our galaxy, and the center of the local supergalactic cluster. This connection is especially strong on the Solstices and Equinoxes and during the moments when other planetary configurations line up with these points in deep space. A great moment of truth approaches.

Over the next seven days, our Sun aligns with the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy. On Monday night, just hours before the Solstice, the Earth's shadow will cross the face of the Full Moon, collapsing time in a dimensional portal of infinite possibility.

Welcome to this year's Solstice. Standstill. Night of creation, ancient home.

The total eclipse of the Moon will be visible throughout the Americas. The effects will radiate beyond time and space to all sentient life, everywhere, carrying our hopes and prayers into the next millennium.

The alignment of the eclipse with the galactic core is a rare cosmic phenomenon and not a coincidence. It's connected with 2012 and the Mayan calendar, the cycles of Venus, the Earth and the Moon. This opening in the heavens signals a time of great change on Earth, of purification and enlightenment.

Deep, unmasked truth lies at the heart of this eclipse. Whatever darkness remains within our own hearts will be revealed. Within the interplay of shadow and light, secrets from the individual and collective unconscious are exposed in tones of raw emotion. Suffering is transformed by the caress of perfect love.

This is likely to be an uncomfortable passage through the heart of darkness and into the ultimate bliss of self-realization, the galactic consciousness that awaits our embrace.

The Serpent

Right now the Sun is transiting a part of the sky that connects us with the Great Beyond via Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer.

The medicine of this great healer is truth, a potent elixir that heals the wounds of many lifetimes and helps us find our way home to love. The serpent initiates our becoming.

Each year, the Sun aligns with this region of the heavens, and divine cosmic frequencies stream to Earth on the galactic cross. This is the alignment that religions and spiritual traditions around the world celebrate as the return of spiritual light to Earth.

As 2012 approaches and the Mayan calendar comes to a close, the feathered serpent symbolizes our ascended state as fully realized, galactic humans.

Out of darkness we are reborn.

The Eclipses

A most auspicious event happens this year as the lunar and solar cycles dovetail in a special eclipse series that coincides poetically with the dawning of the next world age.

These eclipses echo the Grand Cardinal Cross eclipse series earlier this year and yet another series a year ago. This entire period marks a turning point for humanity and the Earth.

Eclipses happen in six-month and 19-year cycles. Issues that surfaced over the summer months will be back, with higher stakes this time. Themes will also relate to 1991 when eclipses previously happened in the same place in the sky.

Both individually and collectively, we're ending and beginning important cycles along these timings, within the context of the great cycle shift known as the Turning of the Ages.

The December 20/21 event is the first total lunar eclipse in three years. There will be two more in 2011.

In the Americas, where the eclipse is visible, it happens overnight December 20-21. Here's the timing:

Partial eclipse begins 1:33 AM Eastern December 21
Total eclipse begins 2:41 AM Eastern December 21
Mid-eclipse 3:17 AM Eastern December 21
Total eclipse ends 3:53 AM Eastern December 21
Partial eclipse ends 5:01 AM Eastern December 21

As the Moon appears to darken, it will actually turn a deep shade of red. The entire event lasts three-and-a-half hours. Within that, the period of totality is 72 minutes. If you live in North, South or Central America and have a clear sky, you can watch from beginning to end.

All the phases of a 28-day lunar cycle will be condensed into three-and-a-half hours. Beyond the Moon-Sun opposition, 26,000 light years away, lies Galactic Center, the heart of the Milky Way in late Sagittarius. Gazing in this direction activates your cellular memory, awakening wisdom codes deep within your being.

The Sun enters Capricorn later that day (3:39 PM Eastern December 21), as lunar and solar energies bathe the Earth in divine love.

This is a Solstice to be remembered, a galactic initiation offered to all who are open to receive it.

The December 21 lunar eclipse is paired with a New Moon Solar Eclipse on January 4. As the Sun and Moon meet in Capricorn, the new year begins.

The Potential

The ongoing galactic alignment in December and the 2009-2011 eclipses bring to completion millennia of spiritual darkness on Earth and mark the beginning of a new era of enlightenment, peace and prosperity. Our divine hearts are awakened.

Each year, the Sun appears to rise and set in the same place for three days surrounding the Solstice before turning south (or north, if you're in the Southern Hemisphere) for the next six months. Time seems to stand still, creating an extended moment of silence designed for quiet reflection and review in preparation for the next cycle.

Timed within the Solstice gateway, the December 21 lunar eclipse expands the potential to infinity. The effects of prayer and meditation are magnified exponentially through this portal.

Energetically, humanity is poised for a quantum evolutionary leap. We're invited to step into our power as divine co-creators who will shape our destiny and craft a remarkable future for humanity and the Earth.

The Experience

Each of us needs to find our way through the maze of meaning within this rare alignment. Issues central to this experience will be:

- Addictions, the ways we numb ourselves and limit the actualization of our highest potential

- Emotional and physical healing

- Alignment with the soul, the cosmos and our deepest purpose

It might seem easier to ignore the vastness of this opportunity, yet the consequences of denial are far more devastating than facing the truth.

There are many ways to attune to the celestial frequencies to embed and direct the transformative effects of eclipses. My favorites include:

- Time in nature

- Communion with the planets and stars

- Healing work with exceptional practitioners

- Purification of body, mind (thoughts) and emotions

- Journaling

- Celebration with loved ones

- Creative activites (art, music, dance, drumming, chanting, etc.)

- Devotional practice (prayer, contemplation, meditation, drumming, chanting, etc.)

- Movement (yoga, t'ai chi, xi gong, walking, running, swimming, etc.)

- Eating foods that grow in and close to the Earth (especially root vegetables and dark, leafy greens) plus mineral supplementation

- Crafting intent

Ceremony is most potent in the hours before, during and after the eclipse alignments, and at sunrise and sunset during each day of the Solstice gateway. As the energies are building, then disseminating, our prayers expand and multiply.

I'd like to offer, for the benefit of all beings, a prayer that we might carry in our hearts through this eclipse passage.

A Solstice Prayer

Beginning now, I choose to walk in a new way on planet Earth, to attune to her as I remember cosmic truth and embody my divine purpose.

I forgive myself and others and open my heart to receive the infinite blessings of divine love flowing throughout the universe and coursing through my very veins.

As I attune to the Earth, the Moon, the planet and star beings in the heavens, I breathe with universal forces of creation. Divine Source enters me, filling the cells and spaces of my being with pure love and light. I am healed, whole, and renewed.

May I be gentle with myself and others as pain, fear and suffering are released. I bless all I encounter and embrace my fellow beings, all situations and circumstances, all thoughts, feelings and emotions, as reflections of my own divinity.

I joyfully claim my destiny as a force for positive change at this turning point in Earth's history. Together with my brothers and sisters of all colors and faiths, I will shape the future in ways that serve humanity's highest evolution and fulfill the needs of generations yet to come.

This Solstice season is draped in garlands of holy, sacred light.

Today's New Moon initiates a potent lunar cycle that will culminate two weeks from now in a Total Lunar Eclipse on the December Solstice. That's just a beginning.

As they meet in Sagittarius/Ophiuchus today, the Sun and Moon align with the Great Attractor, a massive deep-space anomaly that's sucking in galaxies at an alarming rate. On December 21, the Lunar Eclipse aligns with the Galactic Equator, primordial birth canal of ancient myth.

Embedded within this sequence is the promise of the ages, true wisdom, and hope for the future. Something profound, life-and-consciousness-altering is taking shape right now in the periphery just outside our view.

Over the next 28 days:

The Sun ventures through Ophiuchus and Sagittarius, then into Capricorn.

Uranus goes direct.

Mercury turns retrograde.

A very special Full Moon eclipse coincides with the December Solstice.

We begin a new year with another eclipse.

The next five weeks are a magical, creative, healing time. The journey will be intense with lots of fluctuating energies. Expansion follows collapse. Darkness gives way to light, and vice versa, in a rhythmic yet unpredictable dance.

Throughout this time, expect the unexpected. We're bubbling with excitement one moment, diving into the abyss of the Great Unknown the next. We taste the bliss of higher truth then plunge headfirst into the depths of grief. Life will be full of contrasting experiences, in no particular order.

Within the Solstice eclipse field, time stands still. We sample the moments simultaneously, layer by layer, as the world we have known slips away. All that remains is love.

This is the ending of what has been, and the beginning of what will be, the essence of Cosmic Time. It's the wisdom encoded in the sacred architecture of the ancient world, echoed in the geometries of crop glyphs today. Divine intelligence is at play all around us, hoping we'll pay attention, especially during the holiday season.

With Jupiter conjunct Uranus in late Pisces, there's a deep mysticism in it all, a sense of coming home. As vast cycles come to an end, we breathe with universal forces of creation.

New Moons are endings and new beginnings. This cycle carries us through the Solstice season, another galactic eclipse series, and into a new year. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, many lifetimes, to consciously reshape reality in new and exciting ways.

Triumph of the Spirit

In this season of thanksgiving, tonight's Full Moon marks a key passage of the solar year. The phoenix rises. Death gives way to life.

We harvest the blessings of this creation as we attune to celestial rhythms.

Venus' six-week retrograde passage culminates with the lunar alignment tonight. The Sun-Moon opposition is exact at 12:27 PM Eastern on Sunday. In Scorpio-Taurus we celebrate transcendence, the triumph of the human spirit. The soul is laid bare, bathed in waves of milky light. For a moment, we see.

Next, we go deeper into the spiral.

Venus and Jupiter

Over the past six weeks, the planet of love and abundance has traveled in reverse, transiting parts of Scorpio and Libra in her quest for truth, healing and sacred union.

Earlier this month a shamanic journey led her into the underworld where she transformed away from our view. She has re-emerged as Morning Star in the the pre-dawn sky.

Now Venus reigns in the east, awakening our hearts, minds and bodies to the tasks at hand as we are reborn more fully into our purpose and power.

The new Venus cycle in Scorpio carries us through 2012 and the end of the Mayan calendar. This is no coincidence. The ancient Maya observed Venus and synchronized their sacred timekeeping system with her cycles.

Jupiter has returned to forward motion, too. In Pisces, he continues to expand our consciousness and ideals. Uranus, the Awakener, travels with Jupiter in late Pisces, although he moves more slowly and is still retrograde.

We have about 10 days to integrate the lessons of the Venus passage, lessons around relationship and love, money, passion, our creativity and values. We've faced our fears, plumbed the depths of the psyche. We're exploring new options and making choices.

Year-End 2010

Another round of intense transformation begins November 30 when the Sun enters the mysterious 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer. Known to ancient astrologers and depicted in the Temple of Hathor at Dendera in Egypt, this mysterious sign is re-emerging as a transformational gateway in these transitional times.

In mid-December, the Sun crosses the Galactic Equator near the Solstice. Within deepest night, light returns to Earth. This galactic alignment is punctuated by a potent eclipse series beginning with a Total Lunar Eclipse on December 21. Two weeks later, the Sun and Moon meet in Capricorn and we begin tending to the seeds we planted in 2010.

In my astrological preview published a year ago, I wrote: "In 2010, humanity arrives at a crossroads. Individually and in groups, we will initiate a sequence for the times to come, not only through our intent, but with our actions. This is a chance of a lifetime, many lifetimes, and the effects will radiate throughout the cosmos."

The pivotal year of 2010 now draws to a close. What are we harvesting?

As we gather with family and friends, I pray that we're mindful of the deeper rhythms pulsing through this holiday season, that we'll pause to commune with the galactic forces at play in our lives and our world. I pray that we open more deeply to love as we celebrate this holy season.

Silently, Venus stirs me from sleep.
Hanging as a jewel above the crimson-orange horizon she beckons, guiding her initiates to this day, a new beginning, deeper love.

Venus' shamanic journey has come to an end. She metamorphosed as she met with the Sun away from our view, returning to the sky in early November as Morning Star. Like Venus, we are reborn.

During her retrograde transit the past six weeks, evolutionary forces took aim at relationships, values, creativity and finances. How have these shifted for you during this time?

Traveling with her since early October I am wiser, more aware, conscious of my flaws and fears, and eternally grateful for the simple gifts of abundance that fill my life. Family. Friends. The natural world. Infinite love.

Venus returns to direct motion today. She begins a 584-day cycle in Scorpio, her playtime in Aries complete. Now we learn the ins and outs of personal power through the 2012 gateway.

In this season of death and rebirth, transformational energies reach a peak next week with the Samhain-New Moon gateway. Venus' heliacal rise on November 5 amplifies the mystical, healing qualities of this shamanic passage.

Enter the void, the depths of the soul. Prepare for rebirth.

We're dancing with the shadow during Venus' shamanic journey of the Underworld this Halloween season. The Samhain fire burns away pain, suffering and outdated beliefs as Venus continues her retrograde transit, away from our view. She'll reappear next week as the morning star in the east and initiate a new eight-year cycle in Scorpio.

Every year I count the days to Halloween, a celebration rooted in the cross-quarter sabbat called Samhain. What a powerful time it is, our connection with the netherworlds strengthened, our night vision more acute, extrasensory perceptions finely tuned.

With the Sun in Scorpio, Samhain (pronounced 'sow-in' or 'sow-een') skims the boundaries between the living and the dead. This is a special time when we honor the Ancestors and loved ones who have crossed into spirit. We're especially attuned to their guidance, love and wisdom through this portal.

Samhain Season

The seasons are turning, toward winter in the northern hemisphere, toward summer in the south. Fall is a time of harvest and gratitude. We prepare for winter and turn inward as the nights grow longer. The sabbats honor the turning of the wheel within the solar year, marking the mid-points between the equinoxes and solstices.

Samhain begins with Halloween on October 31 and continues through "true" Samhain on November 7 when the Sun reaches 15 degrees Scorpio. All Saint's Day is November 1 and Dia de las Muertas (All Soul's Day) is November 2. The alignments create a bubbling cauldron of possibilities fueled by Scorpio's promise of transcendence. Prepare for the cycle of death and rebirth embedded within this change of seasons.

The energies are especially potent on November 5-6 with a stellium of planets in Scorpio at the New Moon. From the darkness of this creation womb Venus will rise on November 5 as the phoenix, recreating herself as morning star. The old dies to make way for the new. Ignite a path of personal power with the New Moon and Venus.

Potential and Possibility

This is the shamanic process of Scorpio, and Venus is leading the way as she transforms in the heavens from evening to morning star and becomes a beacon for human potential.

What did the miners, their families, the country of Chile and countless others around the world create through attention, through prayer and vigil, through hope? In a stunning victory, they preserved life.

The Web

We can work with this same energy, manifesting and creating with the Full Moon during Venus' retrograde journey. We can spin out in chaos and feel victimized, powerless to direct cosmic forces. Or we can go inward, focus and spin with intent.

At this lunation, connect with Spider Woman, the creation goddess of indigenous tribes throughout the Americas who weaves the web of life. Witness your response in personal situations. Have you been sideswiped in power struggles? Are you asked to be discerning in your use of power? How have you given away your power, and how can you reclaim it? In my Venus journey this month, I've encountered wildly karmic scenarios, both my own and those of close friends. Some know nothing of Venus but are deeply affected nonetheless. How is this process playing out in your life?

The Full Moon represents a culmination, a time of manifestation and creation. The energy reaches maximum strength as the alignment becomes exact with the Moon opposing the Sun on Friday. The tension between the feminine lunar and masculine solar energies is released at the moment of the opposition, which is 9:37 PM Eastern on October 22. Ritual, prayer and meditation are most potent in the hours leading up to and after the exact alignment.

Astrology guru Dane Rudhyar portrays the dynamic of this week's Full Moon in his astrological mandala. At 30 Aries, energetic potential has to be focused then united with substance in order for effective power to be realized. At this critical stage, there is enormous potential for failure as well as fuel for breakthrough.

Vigilance is key. Decide what you want to focus on. Emotions, love, relationships, finances and values are optimal areas for change. During this phase, themes are dissolution, transfiguration and emergence. We must release the past in order to ascend to a new life, a new beginning as empowered co-creators on Earth. We're about to be swept into a deep, slow burn of alchemical magic.

Over the next six weeks, Venus' journey in the underworld mirrors our own shamanic process of death and rebirth. The Evening Star is transformed to Morning Star.

First, a kiss. The Goddess embraces her beloved warrior, Mars, before her 41-day retreat. They meet this week for a tantric interlude in Scorpio, sign of transformation, lust and power.

Everything Venus is about - our values, relationships, beauty, money, love, creativity, self-worth - will be put to the test as we integrate the changes of the past 18 months.

This fall, Venus rules the heavens. We'll journey with her as she travels back through the early degrees of Scorpio into late Libra, preparing for the next evolution of sacred marriage. Her metamorphosis will be complete in late November.

Metamorphosis

This Thursday, the Sun and Moon meet in Venus' home sign of Libra. The next day Venus stations retrograde and begins her 41-day journey. She'll drop lower and lower in the western sky after sunset, her light receding each evening until, between October 19 and 22, she slips into the underworld and disappears from our view.

Enveloped in a cocoon of darkness, she makes her transition. The bright and guiding star re-emerges in the east in the pre-dawn sky November 4 or 5. This heliacal rise marks the initiation of a new 584-day Venus cycle. We are reborn in the shamanic sign of Scorpio.

This is also the solar gateway of Samhain, when the Sun crosses the middle degrees of Scorpio in late October through early November. During this phase, a conclave of planets will meet the Goddess in Scorpio to escort her to her throne. The Ancestors draw near to midwife the rebirthing.

Prepare to travel to new depths this Halloween season. Mid-October through early November is a period of high magic. In the watery realms of Scorpio, watch for power plays, manipulation and deception. Ghosts of your former self appear as you dive, like Venus, into the depths of the subconscious to face your deepest fears and desires.

Beyond the dissolution and reformulation of your life, you'll soar to new heights like the Phoenix who rises from the ashes of its former self. Absolute surrender is required to receive the full blessings of this divine empowerment.

Venus completes her retrograde phase November 18, just as Jupiter also stations direct. It's time for a party when these two great celestial forces return to forward motion.

The Venus Cycle

This sequence marks the completion of a cycle that began in late March/early April 2009 when the heliacal rise of our sister star occurred in Aries. This phase also brings to completion a longer, eight-year cycle that goes back to November 2002. We've been exploring masculine and feminine roles, individual identity and personal power since then. How have we evolved?

Venus is about love and abundance, attracting rather than pursuing. The archetype of the Goddess has many mythical names including Ishtar, Inanna, Isis, Athena, Aphrodite, Astarte, Spider Woman and Lakshmi. In all, she is Shakti, the divine feminine, creative force of the cosmos.

Her essence inspires Shiva, the sacred masculine, to creative action. Through the portals of the Galactic Cross and Cancer/Capricorn eclipses, we've been accessing these energies all year. Now it's time to plumb the depths of the psyche to find out what parts of our selves must be purged in order to fully manifest our new roles as empowered co-creators on Earth.

In this case, in Pluto and at the completion of an eight-year cycle, the theme is transfiguration, an alchemical process of death, transmutation and rebirth. The Snake sheds its skin so we may evolve into a higher expression of consciousness.

The new Scorpio cycle culminates June 12, 2012, with a rare Transit of Venus. In this special conjunction, the planet will visibly cross the face of the Sun in the final year of the Mayan calendar. This is no coincidence. The ancient Maya were Venus watchers. Her complex cycles are encoded within their sacred calendar. Our sister planet is helping us connect with our galactic nature at the dawn of the next world age.

Rebirth

In this season of high magic, there will be tricks as well as treats. That's the nature of Scorpio, the sign most associated with power and sex, money, desire, motive, manipulation, fear, secrets, the subconscious, psychism and the unseen realms.

During Venus' retrograde transit, relationships are due for an overhaul. Don't be surprised if you hear from, dream about or initiate contact with former lovers. If you began a relationship 18 months ago, it's likely to be ending now. If you meet someone new, be cautious while Venus is retrograde. The connection may not be what it appears. Notice what happens with your finances. Are you recreating or releasing old patterns? How have you been fooling yourself?

For the past 18 months, Venus' journey in Aries has been exciting, passionate and often challenging as we've tried on the role of Warrior Goddess. The courage of a great warrior is needed now to dive willfully into the unknown during this passage into the Scorpio cycle.

Stay alert and practice discernment. Notice messages in dreams and meditation. Allow time for deep inner healing. Processing on the subconscious levels can be emotionally, mentally and physically taxing. Practice nurturing self-care. Be patient if finances seem sluggish.

In a shamanic dance of death and rebirth, the natural world is our teacher and guide. Commune with the planets and stars, the deva spirits and elementals, the animal and plant kingdoms. Sustainable Change

Now, between the Equinox and the Libra New Moon, our future gestates within the pre-dawn womb of consciousness.

Evolutionary forces beyond this dimension inspire us to sing the songs of creation in harmony with Mother Earth and all being, to heal, open and align, to attune to the rhythms of life and join the cosmic dance.

In a year of quantum change, we've reached the season of the harvest and celebrate the accumulated experiences of the journey so far. The joy and sorrow, ease and hardship, miracles, obstacles and the spirit that infuses all.

Days are growing shorter here in the northern hemisphere, lengthening below the equator. Leaves wither. Seeds sprout. Life slows down or speeds up, as the cycles turn.

The change of seasons in the outer world reflects our inner transformation. What's next?

In 2010, we're initiating a new sequence for the coming times. The window of opportunity is now. This is a year of tearing up the fields, turning the ground, then casting seeds for what will be through 2012 and beyond. What are we creating?

Life as we've known it is changing swiftly. It has to. The path we've been on will not sustain us much longer. We have to evolve. Natural cycles indicate we have two years to change direction and lay the foundation of a new world.

I've prayed all year that enough beings will seize this opportunity so we can turn things around on planet Earth. Now it's time to put that prayer into action.

Desert Awakening

Earlier this month, during Mercury's retrograde phase, I took a trip through the desert and awakened, again, to my deepest desire.

High in the San Jacinto Mountains of southern California, I pondered the state of our world, the economy and what all this change means day to day in people's lives. For generations, too many on all continents have lacked the basics of shelter, food, medical attention, education and our greatest human need, love. Today the numbers are growing fast as the economy shifts and the population swells unchecked.

As I drove from Los Angeles to Phoenix in 100-degree heat, I was shocked to see how much development has sprung up in the harsh desert terrain. Mile after mile of houses, condos, resorts, golf courses, shopping malls and strip centers line the desert streets. Where does the water come from to sustain life here? How many tons of coal does it take to keep the air conditioners running through most of the year? How much of the electricity is coming from wind and solar power?

I thought of my brother and his wife up north in Winnipeg. Where they are, millions live in near-tundra conditions, with countless homes and businesses dependent on a steady flow of natural resources and food.

What becomes of the people who live in these places if the power grid goes down during the searing heat of summer or the frozen depths of winter?

Development like this around the world is not sustainable. We can't keep draining the Earth's resources indefinitely. There are other ways of being that will ensure humanity's survival.

What's Sustainable?

The solutions rest in blending modern technology with ancient wisdom. Our ancestors thrived in extreme climates for generations without lights, air conditioning, heat and gasoline. Some tribal cultures still do. We can learn from them how to live in harmony with the Earth and natural cycles.

The devastating oil spill earlier this year in the Gulf of Mexico was a wake-up call. At least briefly, it focused the world's attention on the rampant global environmental crisis and the need to reduce our dependence on Big Oil. The damage created by this one accident will impact future generations for decades to come.

If we heed the message of the incident, the crisis could be a turning point that gets us headed in a positive direction that will heal our lives, our communities and our world.

The problem isn't going away just because the leak in the Gulf has been capped. We need to fix this. The Earth is out of balance, and she will do what she needs to do to rebalance her systems. We can participate in this process by harmonizing with Mother Earth and each other.

This is the next evolution.

Where do we go from here?

As the sun slips below the horizon these nights, I notice the change of seasons with the turning of the Earth. Another cycle is coming to an end.

The Equinox approaches, a point of balance in the solar year when day and night are of equal length. The waxing Moon dances with Venus in the western sky.

The Evening Star will disappear soon, to travel through the underworld of deep transformation as she prepares for her next journey. Cycles within cycles, all is change.

At sunset I contemplate the enormity of the challenges we face. What are we harvesting, individually and as a people, from the tremendous opportunity we've had this year to redirect? Have we seized the chance to change, to craft a new way of being, to initiate a new sequence for the times ahead, beyond 2012?

As an astrologer, I know this opportunity won't come along again. We have two years to turn things around on planet Earth. And within that two years, this is the time to commit to making it happen.

What's It All About?

The way the planets align form special portals for the transmission of specific cosmic frequencies. In 2010, the planets have lined up with points in deep space that have sent our earthly reality into a tailspin. The Grand Cardinal Cross formed by planets in our solar system aligns with the center of our galaxy and the center of the supergalactic cluster that includes the Milky Way. With this Grand Cross, the Universe has engineered an unavoidable wake-up call. We're supposed to be paying attention.

Ways these energies might play out in our lives include sudden illness, accidents, career changes, relocation, and the loss of loved ones, relationships or your home. Depression is common. Many are diving headlong into addictions. At the same time, many are reporting sublime spiritual experiences, accelerated healing, an abundance of new opportunities, magic and synchronicity. Through crisis and triumph, we perceive the hand of the Divine at play in our everyday lives.

Prophets and sages, elders and rishis, yogis and shamans throughout the ages have known this day would come. The world is turning inside out as the rate of change accelerates on planet Earth. This truth has been prophesied since ancient times, encoded in the Mayan calendar and facilitated by the divine intelligence of the cosmos.

We can choose to align with the galactic forces and collaborate with the Universe in shaping the way things go from here. Or we can resist and try to hold on as the creative-destructive energies wrench the past from our grip.

Equinox-Full Moon Portal

We have another supreme opportunity to attune to these universal forces next week.

In a display of cosmic synchronicity, the solar and lunar cycles dovetail this year as the Harvest Full Moon coincides with the Libra Equinox. Within hours on September 22-23, the Sun and Moon align with Jupiter and Uranus first, then cross into Libra and Aries to form a portal with the Supergalatic Center. Pluto and the lunar nodes complete the cross in Capricorn-Cancer and echo the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on June 26 this year. Cosmic energies stream to Earth to support our evolution.

This rare sequence is an extended moment of balance, a point of initiation. The effects of prayer, meditation and ritual go quantum as the planets align. The Galactic Initiation Portal occurs overnight September 22/23 and culminates as the Moon crests to full in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

As the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico and natural disasters around the world have shown us repeatedly, our world is out of balance. The time for change is now.

The ways of spirit never cease to amaze me.

Last night I picked up a DVD from a huge stack where I'm staying near the Pacific coast in California. I'd never heard of the film "Remember Me," but the blurbs on the cover were compelling. As I sat down to watch, I thought it was your average love story.

It turns out the film was not only beautifully acted and directed, the timeliness was haunting. The story of two families intertwined by fate unfolds sweetly, like a flower in spring. The dramatic ending stirs the emotions and invites deep contemplation.

This film humanizes the events of September 11, 2001.

The heartless attacks on targets in New York City and Washinton, D.C., nine years ago today struck like lightning and forever changed the landscape of our reality. Things will never be the same.

Back at that time, Saturn and Pluto faced off in a chilling opposition that lasted nearly two years. September 11 fell between the first two exact alignments of these two heavyweights - Saturn, the planet of karma and form, and Pluto, the annihilator.

Today Saturn and Pluto continue their showdown with a waning square that forms part of this year's cardinal t-square. The Saturn-Pluto square also forms half of the volatile Grand Cardinal Cross we've experienced the past several months.

The winding-down of the Saturn-Pluto cycle provokes memories and questions. How have we healed since September 11, 2010? What have we learned, individually and as a people? Are we stronger? Kinder? More tolerant? Willing to reach out to strangers? What guides us - fear or love?

For generations, spiritual prophecies around the world have foretold of this time of awakening and transformation. As encoded in the sacred Mayan calendar, the evolution of consciouness is speeding up in these years through the 2012 transition and beyond.

Whether natural cataclysm like massive earthquakes, hurricanes and tsunamis, or human-generated devastation like the Gulf oil spill, Earth changes are part of the sweeping transformation that grips our lives and our world in these days of living prophecy.

Events in the external world give us countless opportunities to go within, to contemplate, process and release, to open our hearts and minds, to grow in love.

In 2002, as the Saturn-Pluto opposition ended, I lost my brother to brain cancer. He was 36. This tragedy reunited a family divided by time, distance and beliefs. Today we're stronger, and still healing from the loss of Eric's bright eyes and infectious laugh, his relentless determination and quick wit.

On this day, especially, I remember him and pray for all who have suffered in service to this ongoing evolutionary journey.

It's the New Moon, a time of new beginnings. Kind of.

As the Sun and Moon meet methodically in Virgo, six planets are in retrograde motion, traveling backward through the zodiac from our earthly vantage point. Mercury is retrograde in Virgo until September 12. Jupiter, Uranus, Chiron, Neptune and Pluto are transiting in reverse, too.

Retrograde periods are more appropriate for re-evaluation than initiating new plans or projects.

So what can we actually begin at such a time?

I've been on retreat the past few days contemplating that exact question. To me, it seems most appropriate to focus on the basics, the foundations of life. Take care of unfinished business and get a foundation established for a big new beginning at the Autumn Equinox on September 22. There will be more new beginnings beyond that, too, as each of the planets returns to direct motion.

The next turn of the solar wheel comes when the Sun enters Libra at the September Equinox, followed closely by the Aries Full Moon. Tonight, into tomorrow, we're planting seeds that will come to fruition then.

The New Moon is exact at 6:30 AM Eastern on September 8. In Virgo, the focus is gratitude and service, also healing and health. Getting back to basics might mean clearing out clutter and donating items you don't need to someone who does. Tend to the physical body with a medical or dental check-up, a cleanse or therapeutic massage. As we purify on a material level, we notice our thoughts become more streamlined. Truth emerges from within.

- How healthy do you feel physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually?
- Is it time to shift your direction, focus or habits?

In 2010, as we stand at the threshold of a new beginning, the Universe offers a simple, supreme gift.

We are given the choice to awaken. Will we accept?

The rate of change is accelerating on planet Earth as we make our way through the 2012 transition. That translates differently for each one of us. We might experience illness, accidents, sudden loss of a loved one, economic hardship, natural (or not) disaster and various other crises. Jobs and relationships are ending. Many are losing their homes. These times are also filled with magic and opportunity. How has your life changed in the past year? Two years? Five years?

We live in a time of rebirth and renewal, endings and new beginnings. Destruction is a natural part of the process. This entire year is about coming to terms with change.

In December last year, I wrote that "2010 will be a defining year in humanity’s evolution. Massive changes will be initiated in 2010 and integrated in the years ahead. Arising from upheaval and chaos, a new paradigm will be born."

How we respond to evolutionary forces now will shape the future. This is not a year to stand by and wait for others to act. Positive change requires our participation, our commitment and leadership in alignment with the soul.

Divine Intent

Astrology is a way to decipher the intent of the cosmos as we make our way through the great cycle shift, the Turning of the Ages.

Many believe the year 2012 is the turning point, the end of the current cycle. The truth is much bigger. As we've said many times, 2012 is now. Vast cycles of time on the order of thousands, tens of thousands and millions of years are completing, and new cycles are beginning, now. That process doesn't happen in a single year. The cycle shift takes hundreds, perhaps thousands of years.

Within the 2012 transition, 2010 brings us to a crossroads. Which way will we go? Will we choose love and abundance or fear and scarcity? Will we seize the opportunity to become empowered co-creators and manifest a compelling destiny aligned with our true purpose? Or will we passively watch and wait, fearful to take a leap and participate in creating a brighter future?

Individually and collectively, we're initiating a sequence for years to come as we pass through the energetic portals of 2010. The choices we make matter.

What's Next?

The energies of change reached peak intensity in June, July and August as a volatile t-square and Grand Cardinal Cross configuration connected us with the heart of the cosmos. A potent eclipse series in June and July amplified the effects. Sudden, sweeping changes rolled through our lives like waves crashing to shore.

In the spring and summer months, an unthinkable crisis gripped the world's attention as oil bled uncontrollably from the sea floor into the Gulf of Mexico. The devastating effects of the oil spill will haunt us for many years to come. From the chaos surrounding this disaster, a clear message emerged. We can no longer ignore the obvious. We must change our ways.

With six planets now retrograde (Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, Chiron, Neptune and Pluto), we have the opportunity to revisit our choices and decide how to proceed from here.

Issues we faced over the past few months will surface again between now and early next year. Do we need to make different choices? This is a big second chance.

Mercury's retrograde period through mid-September gives us pause. This is an ideal time to reflect and consider next steps as we integrate the powerful energies we've experienced recently.

Opening to Love

There’s an amazing phenomenon embedded in the planetary transits and alignments this year. Through these energetic portals, a new beginning is possible for humanity and the Earth. A mass awakening is at hand.

In part, the power of these celestial configurations relates to the Turning of the Ages with vast cosmic cycles ending and beginning now, in our lifetime. More specifically, the ongoing t-square configuration of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto has moved into alignment with the center of the supergalactic cluster that includes our local Milky Way Galaxy. The energies reaching Earth through this portal open us to the most exquisitely peaceful, nurturing divine love imaginable in this or any dimension. At the same time, the potent galactic forces are highly destructive and cause sudden, unexpected changes that serve a higher purpose in this grand reordering of life on Earth.

With a little spiritual savvy, we can channel all this flux and uncertainty in positive ways. Rather than resisting the energies of change, we can learn to focus cosmic forces to transform our lives and our world. Collective transformation begins within each of us individually. Through this gateway, we have an enormous opportunity to step into our power and do things differently on planet Earth. The changes that are needed are far too big for any one of us to manifest alone. We must join forces and work together, cooperatively, in true Aquarian style.

The energies of 2010 support quantum change. We can break through to the next level more easily now than ever before. In this moment, do you feel free? Do you sense a new beginning in your life that's related to something bigger, something important, something galactic? Are you living your purpose? If not, what's stopping you?

It's time to ask the hard questions and be honest with the answers. An opportunity like this won't come along again any time soon.

Tonight's Full Moon is a spiritual, dreamy affair. Dive deep, into the inner realms of Pisces.

The reflected light of the Sun, shining through Virgo, illuminates our path of service. How is this shifting for you now, as the Summer of Big Changes begins to wind down?

Full Moons illuminate what's been held in the unconscious. Notice the messages that come through dreams and meditation. With Jupiter inconjunct the Sun, revelations may be uncomfortable, but necessary. Uranus in Pisces will offer some surprises. Resist the temptation to succumb to addictions to avoid facing the soul's truth.

With Mercury in retrograde motion, the Piscean desire to escape serves well if we take a conscious timeout for retreat and re-evaluation, a relaxing bath, a long walk in nature, a healing massage.

Like the tides they govern, lunar energies ebb and flow. The Full Moon is exact tomorrow at 1:05 PM Eastern. Ideal times for meditation and ceremony are tonight, as the waxing Moon crests to full, and tomorrow, as the energies are disseminating. Our prayers are carried on angels' wings.

Mercury Mayhem

That crazy Mercury. Just when you think the upheaval of summer is coming to an end, the high-spirited messenger takes aim at whatever you thought you knew about where to go from here. Poof, your plans just evaporated.

Do you love retracing your steps and doing things over again? Here's your chance. The planet of communication and transportation turned retrograde yesterday. As far as putting your agenda into play, give it up until September 12 when he goes direct again. Actually, wait another three days after that, so the 15th. The Universe will let you know what you're actually supposed to be doing until then.

Combine Mercury's mayhem with the opportunistic upheaval of the ongoing Jupiter-Uranus combo, now retrograde in Pisces, and you've got a recipe for "I have no idea what's going on." Communications mix-ups, traffic snarls, delays and rescheduling of all kinds are afoot. Watch for opportunities to reconfigure in ways that are much better than the original plan.

With this line-up, expect the unexpected. Double-check facts and figures. Confirm appointment times. Be forgiving when things go haywire. Most of all, keep a sense of humor. Get a massage and relax.

Pretty much anything with "re" in front of it is appropriate right now. Retreat. Re-evaluate. Review. Revise. Reconfigure. Reconsider. Repair if possible, replace if needed. Complete unfinished business. This is not a time to start projects, make long-term decisions or sign contracts.

Just for the record, Mercury doesn't actually go backward. Because of the way the Earth's and Mercury's orbits coincide, the tiny planet appears to stop then turn around and go the other way across the sky several times a year for about three weeks at a time.

Years ago, I scoffed when astrologers blamed Mercury Retrograde for everything from car breakdowns and computer glitches to missed appointments and plane crashes. As a practicing astrologer, I've even experimented several times myself with ignoring the conventional wisdom, forging right ahead as if Mercury didn't matter, things wouldn't slow down or get confused. Yeah, right.

These days I take my own advice. I'm actually going on vacation in early September.

The R Word

Mars and Venus are conjunct in Libra, so male/female relationships are front and center. It might be time for a re-evaluation in that department. Saturn's hanging out there, too, so if you're married (or want to be), you've probably got issues around that. There's a whole lot of separating going on after the big Cancer/Capricorn eclipses over the summer. Not as much hooking up... yet.

Think Service

Mercury's transiting back through Virgo, so pay attention to details. Take the time to get things right. Also pay attention to your health and well being. Mercury Rx check-ups aren't just for cars and computers. On a deeper level, our path of service is highlighted in the sign of the Vestal Virgin, goddess of hearth and harvest. What did you come to do in this lifetime? Are you tending the flames of your soul's passion? It's time to remember and recommit. Soon, it will be time to take action.

Balance and Integration

In the aftermath of this summer's eclipse/cardinal cross extravaganza, Mercury Retrograde provides a pause, a time to reflect and integrate the intense energies of this volatile season. The nearby Libra planets help us find a new balance.

If you've been following along with the astrology, or if you're just paying attention in general, you know it's been a wild ride as the planets lined up the past few months for a rare galactic showdown.

Now comes the time to process. Allow the energies to swirl and flow within. Pay attention to messages in dreams and meditation. Honor the naturally slower pace of life. Stay in the question. Answers will come in time.

Illumination

The Full Moon in Pisces this Monday night illuminates messages from the soul. Lots of people around the world will be meditating together at sunset on Tuesday, which is past the exact Full Moon alignment and a wonderful time to receive the disseminating energies. Full Moons are culmination points. The effects of meditation are amplified through this spiritual portal. Great healing is possible.

The Mercury/Full Moon gateway is an opportunity to rest and catch up before another change-up comes at the September Equinox.

I live for this kind of thing.

Tonight, four planets line up with the Moon, followed by the celestial fireworks of the Perseids meteor shower. No telescope is needed to enjoy these naked-eye treats.

You may need to drive away from the city or hike a mountain to see it. You won't be disappointed...if you're blessed with a clear sky.

Watch the western sky at sunset as Venus (the bright one) dances with the crescent Moon, with Mars, Saturn and tiny Mercury nearby. With Saturn and the personal planets (except Mercury) in Libra, relationships, love and money are in focus. Mercury in Virgo focuses on the details.

The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight with as many as 70 or 80 meteors an hour. The display is extra visible this year against a dark sky just past the New Moon.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the best time to watch the Perseids will be tonight through the pre-dawn hours Friday, regardless of where you live. With a clear sky, you'll see a shooting star every minute or so.

While the best meteor-watching will be late night through daybreak, definitely go outside at sunset tonight and Friday. Venus is so bright in the western sky you can't miss her, with a thin crescent moon hanging just below. As darkness falls, Mars and Saturn will come into view. If you have hazy skies or live in an urban area, you may need binoculars to see Mars and Saturn.

In rare moments like these, cosmic mysteries are revealed. We are at one with the universe, and each other.

As the Sun and Moon meet in Leo a few hours from now, lives are reeling from the energies of the Galactic Cross this past weekend.

Since late last week I've received e-mails about solar flares, earthquakes in unexpected places like Louisiana and Idaho, spacequakes shaking Earth's magnetic field, sudden, untimely deaths, turmoil, angry standoffs, sleeplessness, emotional upheaval and general chaos.

Others are reporting unbridled creativity and giddiness, magical synchronicities, life-changing, miraculous breakthroughs and sheer bliss.

The Grand Cardinal Cross follows the eclipse series of July/August and capped off the Lammas cross-quarter gateway of last week.

In the moment and in the aftermath, everything's changing. The fabric of our lives is disintegrating. At the center of all the flux is peace.

Tonight's New Moon brings to completion the lunar cycle that began with a Total Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 11. What's different in your world since then?

In our astro forecast teleconference on August 5, we explored the potentials and possibilities inherent in the highly potent planetary configurations over the next six weeks. The Grand Cardinal Cross this past weekend was definitely a high point. There's more to come.

With the New Moon in Leo tonight and tomorrow (depending on your time zone), we begin again. Tapping into the love, the creativity, the divine passion of the human heart, new worlds are opening for us to explore. Many are leaving this life to begin a new journey in spirit. Many are elated, many grieving, souls in transition. At the center is peace.

As we remember our mastery and step into our power, we're learning to focus the cosmic energies to create positive change in our own lives and our world. My greatest prayer throughout this season continues to be for humanity's empowerment, the realization of our true, divine nature.

The New Moon is exact at 11:08 PM Eastern tonight. This is the seeding of new patterns fueled by the creativity of divine bliss and made possible by deep surrender.

Grounded Action

This is it. The much-anticipated Grand Cardinal Crosses are now forming in the heavens. The initiatory portal coming into alignment this weekend will be particularly intense.

If you thought the eclipse series in June/July was powerful, watch what happens next. The celestial energies have been ramping up steadily since the March Equinox and reach a crescendo during the first three weeks of August.

Outer planets Pluto, Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter are joined by Mars and Venus in hot configurations over the next several weeks. The planets aren't just making hard aspects to each other. Saturn, Mars and Venus align with the orbital center of the cluster of galaxies that includes our Milky Way. The energy of the cosmos fuels the ongoing outer-planet t-square that will become the Grand Cross this weekend.

All heaven is breaking loose, and the effects will be felt for a long time to come.

This is a divine intervention. As the eclipses, ongoing t-square and grand crosses plow through outdated beliefs, the forms and structures of our lives are crumbling with accelerating ferocity each day. I'm hearing all kinds of reports of physical and emotional manifestations, abrupt endings of everything from relationships and jobs to locations and living arrangements...and magical new beginnings.

Because the planets of the grand cross are in cardinal signs, the overall energy is of change through movement and action. New forms are taking shape even as the old forms fall away. It's still early to fully harvest the new. It's more that an energetic imprint is established at this time for later manifestation in the physical realm. When we're flowing with the energies, the feeling is incredibly light and free, optimistic and joyful. It's also easy to get caught up in the chaos and feel overwhelmed or helpless.

Throughout this period, mindfulness and grounded action are key. Even though the fullest manifestation of our ideas is still far off, now is the time to cast the seeds of a new life and a new world. It's important to stay focused, stay positive and create with intent.

The Moon has had her way with me.

Last night's Aquarius full moon released the energy building since the Capricorn lunar eclipse a month ago. My life is already vastly different now than it was then. How's yours?

The total solar eclipse on the new moon two weeks ago initiated us into deeper levels of Cancerian love, the fathomless love a mother has for her child, the infinite love of the divine that flows through all of creation. Surrendering then to a persistent pull to the ocean, I disengaged from a life I loved and am now even more at peace, more at home, more myself than I have been in ages.

Life in the desert is already a fond memory as I make my way along the Pacific Coast, the edge of the North American continent. The ripe fullness of life rises up to meet me as it did when I first journeyed to these shores two decades ago.

At the ocean, I'm held in the embrace of the divine as wave after wave purifies my heart and cleanses the soul, creating fertile fields where a new consciousness will bloom.

Wheels within wheels, life is cyclical. The ocean attunes us to natural rhythms, the ebb and flow of creation. The tides are ruled by the Moon, zodiacal ruler of Cancer. As a Cancer, I feel these cycles deeply, feel the pain of our planet, feel called to protect and preserve the Earth and her waters that sustain us.

In these times, Mother Earth, her oceans and waterways are undergoing massive changes as are we, her children. This summer is a particularly volatile time with the eclipses just past and the Galactic Crosses now forming in the heavens. Astrologically, 2010 is the most volatile year of the 2012 transition, and the energies reach a peak in the summer months. Notice how much has changed, and how quickly the transformation progresses, as layer upon layer of what was gives way to what else could be.

Mine has guided me back to my ocean home as a new cycle begins. For many years, I've studied and lived within spiritual, sustainable communities whose values align with my own. Viewing the big picture makes it easier to surrender, to find peace, to live our purpose within a broader context.

My soul needed to birth Cosmic Time, to journey these past 12 years in the desert and to venture back to the sea, to explore and expand, as a new cycle begins. It's a curious feeling to anticipate without attachment, to sense the worlds of wonder that await each morning as I rise to meet a new day. The journey is everything.

It isn't easy to dismantle your life, but sometimes it's what's needed to reach a new level.

How can I feel incredible happiness and such deep sadness at the same time?

As the Sun rises this morning to meet the Moon, forming a Total Solar Eclipse in Cancer later today, I'm filled with gratitude for the range of feelings and awareness this alignment has stirred up.

With this eclipse, I'm beginning a journey that will carry me to new places and experiences in foreign lands for the next six months and beyond. Waves of joy wash over my being as I sense the freedom in this new beginning. And yet there is undeniable grief in letting go of the life I have known, my home in the desert, in order to make way for the new.

The contrast of joy and sorrow is inescapable as I struggle to come to terms with the condition of our planet, our societies, the way things have become. I'm aware every day that the waters of the Earth and all her creatures are threatened by the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, that countless beings are living in poverty and starving, that fear, hatred, war and crime are daily realities in many parts of the world. At the same time, I've never felt so alive, so vibrant and light.

I'm amazed at the incongruity. And I believe it's a clue to the secret now emerging as truth in our fast-changing world. How each of us lives each day, the perceptions we hold, and where we focus our energy and intent are key to facilitating positive change. We can all contribute.

We are powerful beings, becoming masters of change. As we step into our mastery, we can focus the divine creative energies of the cosmos to reshape our lives and our world. With the eclipses and Galactic Crosses forming in the heavens this summer, we have a supreme opportunity.

Today we begin.

On this New Moon day, I remain hopeful that a new way is possible and re-commit to my path of service. I intend to contribute my energy to the solutions that will bring about healing and enlightenment for humanity and the Earth.

The Eclipse

Eclipses happen in six-month and 19-year cycles. The issues we were dealing with back then are here again, now, as we complete the cycles and spiral into the new.

The New Moon is exact at 3:40 PM Eastern, although the actual eclipse goes on for three hours as the Moon crosses the face of the Sun. The crossing of the Moon as a shadow over the Sun will only be visible in the southern hemisphere, including South America and the southern oceans, yet we feel the effects everywhere.

Cancer is about emotions, feelings, homes, families and marriage. How are we nurturing? Are we feeling nourished? How are we feeding the soul?

Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and the Moon rules the tides, connecting us with the oceans, the life-giving waters of the Earth, divine consciousness and the rhythms of creation.

Today's New Moon Solar Eclipse is the pair to the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse two weeks ago on June 26 and joins the divine feminine with the sacred masculine in loving union. Notice the ways this theme is playing out in your life.

As we begin a new 19-year cycle, I pray for the Earth, the life-giving waters, humanity and all creatures, that we might awaken to a new life at this dawn of the next world age.

Each year at this time, our Sun aligns with the magnificent blue star Sirius, creating an initiation portal linked to the Great Pyramid at Giza, the Egyptian goddess Isis and the all-seeing, all-knowing Eye of Cosmic Wisdom.

The rising of Sirius with the Sun near the June Solstice marks the beginning of the Egyptian New Year and heralds the annual flooding of the Nile, replenishing the physical and spiritual fertility of the motherland. The brightest star in our sky, Sirius streams the cosmic frequencies of Love-Wisdom to Earth. As Sothis, she catalyzes the purification of ego so we may more fully embody Divine Essence.

Under this auspicious alignment, nations have won their independence and leaders have been born. The conjunction is most exact on July 6.

Freedom and illumination are themes of this celestial gateway. The United States and Canada both celebrate their independence from England under this alignment. Bastille Day - the French Independence Day - is July 14. In an intriguing twist, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the spiritual and political leader of Tibet, and former U.S. President George W. Bush were both born under this configuration, on July 6.

Mother Love

Esoterically, Sirius is known as our Spiritual Sun, portal for the transmission of divine light-love, consciousness of the heavens. The sister stars are reunited each year, bathing the Earth in shimmering waves of creation. We are reborn in the divine light of the cosmos.

This year the Sun's rising with Sirius illuminates harsh realities, a world in much need of Cancerian divine mother-love. This tumultuous season of change is highlighted by a potent eclipse series in Cancer and Capricorn, signs of the cosmic mother and father. The waters of the Earth are threatened even as a galactic cross forms in the heavens, reuniting the Earth with our cosmic origins.

Within these celestial alignments is embedded a supreme opportunity to seize the light of the heavens and fashion a new reality on Earth. It can't happen too soon.

Humanity stands at a crossroads. The choices we make today will determine the course of things to come on planet Earth for a very long time.

In this period between the June 26 Lunar Eclipse and the upcoming Solar Eclipse on July 11, Earth hangs in the balance. The Solar Eclipse on the Cancer New Moon is a time for healing the oceans, sea of consciousness, the vast waters of human emotion, with divine feminine love.

Later this month, Saturn enters Libra, the sign of balance, liberty and justice. In the early degrees of this harmonizing sign, the planet of structure, karma and form completes an explosive cardinal T-Square with Pluto, the Transformer, revolutionary Uranus and expansive Jupiter.

The potential for change is off the charts. Upheaval and chaos reign as the reconfiguration of our world intensifies through the Grand Cardinal Cross alignments of August.

Solstice Sunrise

The Solstice Sun rises this morning on a vastly different world than we knew last year at this time. Think of the unprecedented chain of events that have happened in the past year - economic and political upheaval, volcanoes, earthquakes, extreme weather and, of course, the devastating oil surge in the Gulf of Mexico. Changes are happening faster today than at any other time in human history, and the acceleration will continue.

In this season of celebration, our lives are filled with blessings and challenges, joy and sorrow, passion and pathos as we find ourselves hurtling headfirst into the next world age.

Transformational energies reach a peak through mid-August as planets in our solar system align with specific points in space in ways that spell ramped-up uncertainty and disorder.

The Eclipses

A few days after the Solstice, a stormy Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn/Cancer unleashes tides of emotion. At this Sun-Moon opposition, the Moon aligns with explosive Pluto while chatty Mercury aligns with the Sun. Eclipses involve the play of shadow and light, and this one promises to unveil some surprises from the individual and collective unconscious.

Two weeks later, a total Solar Eclipse on the Cancer New Moon opens our hearts to divine love as we begin a new lunar cycle. The Solstice - June 21, 2010

Solstice arrives on June 21 as the Sun enters Cancer, sign of the Divine Mother. It's summer and the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, winter and deepest night below the equator.

Sacred sites at Stonehenge in England, Chaco Canyon in North America, Machu Picchu in Peru and many others align with the Solstice Sun. The ancients knew. Solstice is stillpoint, a special moment when creational energies are especially potent. Earth and Sun align in a standstill that lasts several days.

Solstice is an ideal time for reflection, contemplation, prayer and meditation, ritual for the healing of Mother Earth and prayer for the enlightenment of all beings.

One of the cardinal points of the solar wheel, this special Sun-Earth alignment enhances our powers of manifestation. What we hold in our minds will be multiplied through this gateway. Prayer, ritual, feasts and celebration magnify healing vibrations around the planet.

This year, the Solstice alignment leads into a paradigm-shattering eclipse period that begins with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Friday night, June 25/26, and culminates in a Solar Eclipse at the New Moon in Cancer on July 11. The Full Moon rises Friday night, June 25, with the eclipse happening overnight Friday to Saturday for most of our readers. This partial lunar eclipse will be visible throughout most of eastern Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean, and the western Americas.

New Moon Total Solar Eclipse - July 11, 2010

The path of totality of the Cancer New Moon Solar Eclipse will only be visible in the southern Pacific Ocean, Easter Island and parts of southern Chile and Argentina. A partial eclipse will be visible in many parts of southern South America.

As the Sun and Moon met this morning to form the New Moon, an awareness crept in softly. A rhythmic pulsing, faint but persistent, like drums beating in the distance.

Something's about to happen. Something big.

Today's New Moon in Gemini begins the 28-day lunar cycle that culminates in the eclipses of summer. The climax of this period is the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on June 25/26, just a few days after the Solstice. The lunar energies dissipate as the cycle completes with a New Moon Solar Eclipse on July 11.

Today the cycle begins quietly, in hushed tones. Changes to come are felt only in that distant pulse, as planets in our solar system align with the heart of creation.

Eclipses are portents of change. They break up energy patterns. This summer's eclipses are fueled by galactic forces as local planets align with specific points in space that connect the Earth with the raw creation energies of the cosmos.

The process will continue throughout the summer as Grand Cardinal Crosses form in the heavens. Our world is about to be radically transformed.

The game is changing on planet Earth. Right now.

No matter what you thought you knew or who you thought you were, your reality is about to be radically transformed.

This summer (fall in the southern hemisphere), a series of planetary configurations signals sudden, profound changes designed to break down outdated thoughts, beliefs and systems so a new paradigm may emerge.

Why? Planets in our solar system are aligning with specific points in space transmitting intense cosmic frequencies. We have a supreme opportunity to initiate a new sequence for a long time to come as we pass through these energetic portals.

The configurations are tense, powerful, revolutionary, and affect all areas of our lives and our world. All planets in our solar system will be involved at one time or another, although the central configuration involves Uranus, Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn.

As the alignments form, dissolve and reform over the next three months, the energies will grow more volatile and intense. In part, the power of these celestial configurations relates to the Turning of the Ages with vast cosmic cycles ending and beginning now, in our lifetime.

Galactic Crossroads

What's likely to happen this summer? Breakthrough. Earth and humanity are poised for an evolutionary quantum leap. This potential is encoded in the Mayan calendar, a sacred timekeeping system that explains the acceleration of consciousness transformation in these times leading up to and beyond 2012.

We've come to a galactic crossroads. Will we attempt to hold on to outdated forms, systems and beliefs? Or will we accept this cosmic invitation to play in the quantum field, spiral up in consciousness, dance with the divine and surf the cosmic waves of love flowing to our planet?

Whether we try to hold on or not, structures, forms and institutions are breaking down, reorganizing at a higher level. During the reconfiguration, we become aware of the infinite possibilities of the quantum field. We realize we can choose our next reality. And we have the insight, tools and technology to do it.

This is a quantum opportunity to dream up solutions to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, discover new ways to feed, clothe and house the world's fast-growing population, and develop sustainable technologies to meet humanity's ever-increasing energy demands. These energies will catalyze rapid advances in all fields, including science, the arts, medicine, healing, education and commerce. In short, we can rebuild our world in ways that work for everyone.

Signs and Signals

Two days ago, the planet Jupiter was hit by an asteroid, which is not all that uncommon. The gas giant is something like 11 times bigger than Earth. Last summer an astroid crashed into Jupiter's atmosphere, leaving a gaping hole the size of the Pacific Ocean. Amateur astronomers captured this week's impact on film, even as NASA scientists released an update about last year's asteroid hit. New Hubble telecope images chronicle the "healing" of this giant wound.

Last month, scientists announced the disappearance of the southern band of dense clouds in Jupiter's atmosphere that looked like a brownish stripe on the planet's surface. Photos of the apparent facelift show a dramatic transformation.

Is it a coincidence that there's all this interest in Jupiter now, just as he's about to enter Aries, the first sign of the zodiac?

In astrology, Jupiter is the teacher, the guru, the guide. Always considered to have positive influence, his presence signals expansion and new teachings.

Overnight tonight, Jupiter joins his brother, guide and friend Uranus at 0 Aries, the initiation point of the zodiac. When these two team up, watch for sudden insights and breakthroughs. Solutions to longstanding problems appear in flashes of genius. Wherever this conjunction falls in your chart, magic is afoot!

Opposing the happy couple is Saturn, who recently returned to apparent forward motion in the heavens. The planet of karma, structure and form is transiting the late degrees of Virgo, and when he reaches 0 Libra in July, the fireworks really begin. Explosive Pluto squares the Uranus-Jupiter/Saturn opposition, forming a Cardinal T-Square that will become the much-anticipated Grand Cardinal Cross of 2010. Under this configuration, changes will be swift and dramatic, with long-lasting effects.

Shifting Realities

Shifting frequencies mean shifting realities. In techno terms, Earth and humanity are getting an operating system upgrade.

Expect the unexpected. Throughout the next three months, we'll experience major upheaval, chaos, movement, pressure and purification. The energy is revolutionary and frenetic, and comes in sudden bursts, seemingly out of the blue.

It could very well feel like your world is turning inside out as old structures collapse and new realities take shape. Different is the new normal.

As I interact with friends, family, colleagues, students and clients around the world, I notice some obvious trends. Many are experiencing emotional upheaval, anxiety, accidents, sudden illness, and extreme changes in sleep and eating patterns. Many relationships are ending. New ones are beginning. Many are being called to travel and/or relocate. Bursts of enthusiasm and bliss alternate with feelings of lethargy or exhaustion. There's excitement and anticipation. Also apprehension.

Time seems to be speeding up and the veils are thinning as our concepts of space and time shift. It's common not to remember whether you dreamed something or it really happened (does it matter?). Uncanny clairvoyant and clairsentient experiences are common, even among people who have never expressed these gifts before.

As the physical touchstones of our lives implode, our sense of self is radically altered. Who are we in this new reality?

Each will perceive the shift and potential outcomes through an individual lens of consciousness. As we attune to the higher frequencies, choices flood our field of awareness. It's wise to remain centered in love as we align with the highest potentials in each moment.

What is Jupiter teaching us?

As above, so below.

It's time to embody our essence as divine masters, learn to embrace change, heal wounds from the past and move powerfully into a new day.

Let the games begin.

On this eve of the Full Moon Festival of Humanity, you are invited to join with forces of creation at play in the quantum field.

The Sagittarius/Gemini Full Moon on Thursday is the final of the three great spring lunar festivals in esoteric tradition. Many around the world will be honoring the Buddhist holy day of Wesak.

This is a potent time for prayer and meditation, joining with lightworkers around the world in loving service to humanity.

As the Sun in Gemini comes into exact opposition with the Moon in Sagittarius (7:07 PM Eastern May 27), revolutionary Uranus enters the first degree of Aries. The way the planets are aligning along this initiation point promises to shatter paradigms and expand human consciousness, opening us to a more galactic perspective.

With this Full Moon alignment, the Summer Games of 2010 begin, a breathtaking journey to the heart of creation and back as we become empowered masters designing a better world.

This summer, the stars and planets sound a wake-up call. Through an unprecedented series of planetary alignments, the world as we have known it will be transformed by what we hold in our hearts and our minds. Let it be love.

Grand Cardinal Cross

A powerful configuration will form in the heavens several times in June, July and August that will facilitate the reshaping of our world from the inside out. The ongoing t-square of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto becomes a Grand Cross as the Sun and Moon (at various times) transit a fourth point to complete the configuration. The Moon forms a triple conjunction with Jupiter, the Guru, and Uranus, the Awakener, in early June and early July, again at the intiatory Aries point.

Why is this important?

Because of the intense volatility of these alignments, drastic changes are inevitable. They will be social, economic and environmental. Anticipate another intense round of Earth changes. While the old paradigm crumbles, seeds are planted for a new beginning beyond the chaotic summer months.

The changes will reach deep into our personal experience, offering a gift of spiritual transcendence. Accepting this gift requires attention and action. How we focus our intent throughout this period will affect the course of things to come on planet Earth for a very long time.

The Prelude

Throughout the spring months (autumn in the southern hemisphere), the Full Moon festivals of the Christ, the Buddha and Humanity have been preparing us for this intiatory journey. We're cleansing our hearts and our minds, and purifying our bodies, to make way for an accelerated expansion of consciousness over the next few months.

Full Moon Ritual

Many around the world, including our 2010 Ascension Activation class, will be joining in meditation and ceremony to focus the amazing potential of this Full Moon for the healing of Mother Earth and the upliftment of humanity.

Did you see it?

The crescent Moon and evening star Venus dancing in the western sky these past few nights steals the breath away, heals the heart, sweetens our dreams.

Just past the Taurus New Moon, a silver lunar crescent hangs motionless in the night sky as Venus, goddess of love, appears nearby. Simply exquisite.

Since ancient times, humanity has been entranced by the magical dance of Venus and the Moon. Our sister star holds a prominent place in the cosmology and myth of cultures around the world, especially in ancient Babylonia, Greece, Egypt, Persia, India, the Far East, Australia and Maya Lands.

The union of these heavenly bodies is considered to be highly auspicious for love, relationships and finances.

Beltane Fire

Fires of passion and purification burn bright this Beltane. The natural world awakens.

One of the four cross-quarters of the solar year, Beltane marks the transition from spring to summer in the northern hemisphere. The maypole anchors spring's spirited dance while a crackling Beltane fire promises deep transformation. We celebrate new life in spring with community festivals,the planting of the gardens.

Our neighbors south of the equator notice the Sun's light receding in fall. Attention turns inward in preparation for winter. Darkness encroaches. The veils between worlds become thin through the shamanic gateway of Samhain.

The Beltane cross-quarter is the mid-point between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice in the north. The gateway extends from traditional Beltane (May Day or May Faire) on May 1 through the zodiacal alignment on May 5 when the Sun crosses 15 Taurus. The potential for transformation goes quantum as outgoing energies and forms are released to make way for the new.

The ongoing T-square of Uranus, Saturn and Pluto erupts in sudden, deep change as we prepare for the initiatory gateway of the Grand Cardinal Crosses of summer. This potent planetary configuration promises to transform our lives and our world.

The Sabbats

Cross-quarters are special alignments of the Earth and Sun called Greater Sabbats. In pagan traditions they're considered even more powerful than the Solstices and Equinoxes, which are known as the Lesser Sabbats. All eight Sabbats are points of balance in the solar wheel and remind us of the turning of the seasons. In honoring the Sabbats, we harmonize our lives with the rhythms of nature, the divinity that flows through all of creation.

Traditionally observed on May 1, Beltane is the pagan celebration of spring and the flowering of life. The maypole represents the merging of masculine and feminine, the god and goddess whose union creates life. We dance the maypole and jump the Beltane fire in celebration of the infinite blessings bestowed on our home, our family and community.

We commune with the nature spirits, the devas, elementals and the plant kingdom who help us bring forth a rich harvest through the warmer months of the year. Dance, chant, drumming and ritual are traditional activities that help us attune to the natural world as we gather with friends and family.

New life bursts forth at Beltane. We plant for a future harvest. What's blooming in your life? What is it time to release? What does community mean to you?

A Word About Wesak

The solar festival of Beltane falls on the same dates each year, but Wesak Festival is a lunar observance and the date changes from year to year. In esoteric tradition, the Wesak Moon is always the Full Moon during the Sun's transit of Taurus, which was April 28 this year. The Buddhist calendar is calculated differently, though, and the religious holiday will be observed at the Full Moon in May.

In Buddhism, Wesak (Vesak) celebrates the birth, death and enlightenment of the Buddha. In the esoteric teachings rooted in Buddhist and Vedic traditions, Wesak Festival is the second of the three great spring lunar festivals, a focal point for humanity to receive the cosmic energies of enlightenment.

Throughout the Wesak passage, especially this year, it's appropriate to prepare by quieting the mind and opening the heart, perhaps reserving extra time for meditation, contemplation, journaling and healing, alone and with others.

Ah, Mercury

And so it goes. Mixed-up dates, techno glitches and missed appointments are normal during Mercury's retrograde transit. The planet of communication and transportation returns to direct motion May 11. Is anyone else counting the days?

Within the Full Moon alignment Tuesday night, we are initiated into the heart of the lotus. The light of Wesak expands to clear our minds as divine love fills our hearts. The Earth, the Sun and Moon, the creatures of this dimension and beyond dance in celebration.

The Scorpio/Taurus Full Moon is the second of the three great spring lunar festivals. Around the world, this holy day honors the birth, death and enlightenment of the Buddha. In esoteric traditions, we are purified in the light of the Wesak Moon as the consciousness of pure love streams to Earth for all who are open to receive.

The Full Moon is exact at 8:18 AM Eastern on Wednesday, April 28. Meditation, prayer and healing are especially transformative throughout this passage and beyond. We begin our weekly series of teleclasses April 28 as the celestial energies rain blessings on the Earth and all beings.

With Mercury (retrograde) conjunct the Sun in Taurus, we have the opportunity to reconnect with Mother Earth, her sacred sites, the waters and mountains and deserts that nourish the soul. I just returned from weekend retreat at Chaco Canyon in northerwest New Mexico. It was a blessed moment to unplug the laptop and plug into Source. Where are your special places of peace and power?

Enlightenment

PBS recently aired a documentary chronicling the path the Buddha walked. Through art, narrative and interviews, we learn the story of the Buddha’s life, a journey especially relevant to our own times of accelerating change and spiritual seeking. Whether it's your first time watching or a rerun, a screening of "The Buddha" during the Wesak Moon would be a loving reminder that spiritual attainment is possible if we make it a priority.

For most of us, enlightenment unfolds in cycles, time after time. With each passage of Wesak, we may notice how we've grown spiritually in the past year, or longer. We may recommit to our spiritual practice. We may find ourselves drawn to the sacred in all things, all places, all people... as an enlightened master.

I'll always remember the moment I realized I was in love. I was alone in the desert of northern Arizona, crossing a weathered bridge over an arroyo. The land opened invitingly, ridges of rose-red soil giving way to the ancient path below. In that moment, my awareness sunk into my heart and I knew. I am deeply, passionately in love with the Earth.

I've fallen in love many times in the desert. In the forest, too, and in the mountains. Especially at the ocean, or in a fragrant garden. The beauty of this planet and her blessings fill my senses.

How appropriate that we celebrate Earth Day on April 22, when the Sun enters earthy, sensual Taurus. In the northern hemisphere, it's the time of year when we begin to shed our winter layers and allow the spring sun to caress our skin. The plant kingdom awakens, alternately drinking in sunlight and gentle rain. As the animals give birth, we sow our gardens.

For our brothers and sisters in the southern hemisphere, it's the time of fall harvest. The natural cycles lead into the nighttime awareness of the soul.

The world is full of potential in this season of rebirth. Heaven smiles on our party for the Earth. The Lyrids meteor shower peaks in the early morning hours on Thursday.

Fierce Light

This Earth Lovefest is nothing new. Since ancient times, humanity has attuned to natural cycles, celebrating the seasons with festivals and thanksgiving. More recently, many of us have strayed from our roots in a world that's become increasingly mechanized, electronic and virtual. We sometimes forget to foster our sacred relationship with the Earth, and each other. Earth Day helps us remember our connection with the natural world, to live mindfully, in harmony with the generous mother being who supports us so abundantly.

In this twilight time between world ages, many are returning to her. In his film "Fierce Light," Velcrow Ripper has captured the words, stories, images and feelings of humanity's love affair with the Earth, and the efforts of many around the world to preserve and protect our cherished home.

If you haven't seen this film, treat yourself for Earth Day. Journey to the mountains of Mexico, the villages of New Zealand and South Africa, to Thailand and Vietnam and a very special place in south central Los Angeles where a group of activists hold vigil to preserve their community garden. This inspiring film will expand your horizons about what it means to be a citizen of planet Earth.

Fierce Light is about owning the responsibility of being human, to live in harmony with the Earth and each other. I strive to live up to this responsibility more fully each day. It's expressed in years of writing, publishing and teaching, my newsletters and blogs, the book Cosmic Time, in my astro-shamanism practice, and in classes, workshops and sacred sites retreats.

The journey continues. This spring and summer, I'm offering a series of teleclasses to create awareness, support and dialogue as we make our way through one of the most volatile periods in human history. Because of the special planetary configurations this summer, we have a supreme opportunity to transform our lives and our world very quickly, to take a quantum evolutionary leap. These planetary configurations in cardinal signs compel us to take action based on our unique mission and purpose at this important time in history, action rooted in spirit. It happens at the level of the individual, and in community. We need courage, faith, guidance and each other as we make our way through the changes ahead.
